Last week we referred to the prophecy of Amos where he declared the intention of God to restore and rebuild the Tabernacle of David. The Lord has committed Himself to this assignment.

I would like us to revisit this prophecy in Acts 15 where there arose a dispute concerning some of the Jews who demanded that the Gentiles be circumcised.

Barnabas and Paul testified before the Jerusalem Council concerning the miracles that God had done with the Gentiles. Then James stepped up and reminded and referred the Council to the prophecy of Amos.

Acts 15:13 And after they had become silent, James answered, saying, “Men and brethren, listen to me: 14 Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name. 15 And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written: 16 ‘After this I will return And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, And I will set it up; 17 So that the rest of mankind may seek the LORD, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the LORD who does all these things.’

1300 years later we see this prophecy being fulfilled with the apostles with the salvation of the Gentiles.This was also prophesied by Zechariah

Zechariah 12:8 In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the LORD before them. 9 It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is a symbol of the present day Temple or the gathering of believers in the City. As believers in Christ, we understand our spiritual location clearly. We are seated with Him in heavenly places.

Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

However, we also need to be conscious of our natural existence on the earth. When we are totally preoccupied with our heavenly seating in Christ, the likes of Absalom, Korah, Adonijah, Jezebel and false brethren are busy with their business dismantling the household of faith. These are practical challenges to governance that need to be regularly confronted through the teaching of the Word of God which is the doubled edged sword that is used during spiritual warfare.

Let us refresh our memories with the account of Elijah who made a bold declaration before Ahab. He declared a drought over the land from a spiritual position (this is equivalent to the believer being seated with the Lord in heavenly places). Power, authority, confidence, boldness comes from the impartation received from being seated with Christ

The Lord had to instruct Elijah concerning his earthly position. Although he was declaring a drought from being spiritually positioned in heaven, Elijah had to recognise the dangers of his real, natural position before King Ahab

1 Kings 17:2 Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 3 “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.

Elijah had to reconcile himself with the perils associated with his declaration on the earth. God told him to escape and hide until the Lord arranges help for his deliverance. For every declarer of truth, there will be seasons where God will hide us. This is the reality of the duality of our existence.

Man is a tripartite being consisting of body, soul and spirit. All three parts have to work together. We have to live in our bodies (flesh) as long as we are on this earth.

The principles for the practical management and leadership of the church on the earth is gleaned from David’s unique style of governing, especially the formation of his army at Ziklag. David, as we know is a man after God’s own heart ; every household of faith needs a David as its leader.

We may refer to him as a set man, senior elder, spiritual father; He is the One sent by God to plant the household of faith or to lead a congregation. He carries the Word of the Lord and follows God with all his heart. Sons and daughters in the house of God need to establish a covenant with their David. After this pandemic and this plague, we are expectant to encounter a new breed of sons and daughters who have encountered God and have seen His hand over their lives. We will emerge as the remnant of God who have been tried and tested.

We will emerge with a spirit of gratitude towards God, His servants and His Word that has sustained us.

We need to be used by the Lord to restore and rebuild the Tabernacle of David which is in ruins. Use the skills that God has given us.

We need to refresh our covenant with our David.

The people declared to David “Indeed we are your bone and your flesh” (2 Samuel 5:1)

The household of faith was never intended to be a loose, random group of variously graced and talented individuals functioning as each one saw fit in his or her own eyes.

The house of God is a collective of graces; it requires astute leadership. The five fold grace must enter in a spirit of peace and connect in his or her heart with David. Entrance is not based on how gifted you are; it is based on whether you can execute your gift in peace with your David.

Helpers of David are included in this peace accord. This is the reason when we violate our peace with David, it has a domino effect on his helpers as well, because this covenant is cut in our hearts.

Listen, it does not matter at what level we are building in the Kingdom. Everything begins at Ground Zero. The success of the church in the city, the Temple that the Lord is presently configuring, is dependent on a strong, faithful, God centred local church.

Paul quotes Isaiah to the Romans :

Romans 15:12 And again, Isaiah says: “There shall be a root of Jesse; And He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles, In Him the Gentiles shall hope.” 13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We realise that every church has its problems. But the purpose of instruction from God’s Word is to bring order to chaos, lawlessness and unaccountability. If we want to witness the manifestation of Christ, the root of Jesse in the house, build the local house according to the Davidic blueprint. The Father chose to usher Christ into the earth through the lineage of David. Spiritual violations within a Davidic administration will attract Divine judgement because the nature of the peace accord is that judgement will be deferred to the Lord; the Lord will look and He will judge the enemies of a legitimate Davidic leadership.

Na semana passada, nos referimos à profecia de Amós, onde ele declarou a intenção de Deus de restaurar e reconstruir o Tabernáculo de Davi. O Senhor se comprometeu com esta tarefa.

Eu gostaria que revisitássemos esta profecia em Atos 15, onde surgiu uma disputa a respeito de alguns dos judeus que exigiam que os gentios fossem circuncidados.

Barnabé e Paulo testificaram perante o Concílio de Jerusalém a respeito dos milagres que Deus havia feito com os gentios. Então James se aproximou e lembrou e referiu o Conselho à profecia de Amós.

No entanto, também precisamos estar cientes de nossa existência natural na terra. Quando estamos totalmente preocupados com nosso assentamento celestial em Cristo, pessoas como Absalão, Corá, Adonias, Jezabel e falsos irmãos estão ocupados com seus negócios, desmantelando a família da fé. Esses são desafios práticos para o governo que precisam ser confrontados regularmente por meio do ensino da Palavra de Deus, que é a espada de dois gumes usada durante a guerra espiritual.

Vamos refrescar nossa memória com o relato de Elias que fez uma declaração ousada diante de Acabe. Ele declarou uma seca sobre a terra de uma posição espiritual (isso é equivalente a o crente estar sentado com o Senhor nos lugares celestiais). Poder, autoridade, confiança e ousadia vêm da transmissão recebida por estar assentado com Cristo.

O Senhor teve que instruir Elias a respeito de sua posição terrena. Embora ele estivesse declarando uma seca por estar espiritualmente posicionado no céu, Elias teve que reconhecer os perigos de sua posição real e natural diante do rei Acabe.

1 Reis 17:2-3 Então veio a ele a palavra do Senhor, dizendo: “Afasta-te daqui, vira para o oriente e esconde-te junto ao ribeiro de Querite, que deságua no Jordão.

Elias teve que se reconciliar com os perigos associados à sua declaração na terra. Deus disse a ele para escapar e se esconder até que o Senhor providencie ajuda para sua libertação. Para cada declarante da verdade, haverá momentos em que Deus nos esconderá. Esta é a realidade da dualidade de nossa existência.

O homem é um ser triplo constituído de corpo, alma e espírito. Todas as três partes precisam funcionar juntas. Temos que viver em nossos corpos (carne) enquanto estivermos nesta terra.

Os princípios para o gerenciamento prático e liderança da igreja na terra são extraídos do estilo único de governo de Davi, especialmente a formação de seu exército em Ziclague. Davi, como sabemos, é um homem segundo o coração de Deus; toda família de fé precisa de um Davi como seu líder.

Podemos nos referir a ele como um homem estabelecido, ancião sênior, pai espiritual; Ele é Aquele enviado por Deus para plantar uma família de fé ou para liderar uma congregação. Ele carrega a Palavra do Senhor e segue a Deus de todo o coração. Filhos e filhas na casa de Deus precisam estabelecer uma aliança com seu Davi. Após esta pandemia e esta praga, esperamos encontrar uma nova geração de filhos e filhas que encontraram Deus e viram Sua mão sobre suas vidas. O povo declarou a Davi “Na verdade nós somos teus ossos e tua carne” (2 Samuel 5: 1)

A família da fé nunca teve a intenção de ser um grupo solto e aleatório de indivíduos talentosos e agraciados de várias maneiras, funcionando como cada um considerasse adequado aos seus próprios olhos.

A casa de Deus é um coletivo de graças; requer liderança astuta. A graça quíntupla deve entrar em um espírito de paz e conectar-se em seu coração com Davi. A entrada não se baseia em quão talentoso você é; baseia-se em saber se você pode executar seu dom em paz com seu Davi.

Paulo cita Isaías aos Romanos:

Romanos 15:12-13 E novamente, Isaías diz: “Haverá uma raiz de Jessé; E aquele que se levantar para reinar sobre os gentios, nele os gentios esperarão. ” Agora que o Deus de esperança os encha de toda a alegria e paz na fé, para que abundem em esperança pelo poder do Espírito Santo.

Percebemos que toda igreja tem seus problemas. Mas o propósito da instrução da Palavra de Deus é trazer ordem ao caos, ilegalidade e irresponsabilidade. Se quisermos testemunhar a manifestação de Cristo, a raiz de Jessé na casa, construa a casa local de acordo com o projeto davídico. O Pai escolheu introduzir Cristo na terra por meio da linhagem de Davi. Violações espirituais dentro de uma administração davídica atrairão o julgamento divino porque a natureza do acordo de paz é que o julgamento será deferido ao Senhor; o Senhor olhará e julgará os inimigos de uma liderança davídica legítima.

Amos prophesies, firstly, concerning the judgement upon God’s people. Remember when we talk about Israel, we are referring to the spiritual Israel, the church of God

If you thought our present day preaching was abrasive to the ear, spare a thought for God’s people during the time of the prophets; spare a thought for the prophet himself, like Amos who was deployed by the Lord to carry a Word of rebuke and chastisement to the people of God.

It is no wonder that God would ask Isaiah the question: “And who will go for Us?”

It would seem that there were not many who would speak on His behalf. Amos had to risk personal injury as well as being discredited in his ministry to release these words concerning the idolatrous altar at Bethel. This was during the timeline of Jeroboam 2 and Uzziah, two of the most powerful kings of the Northern and Southern kingdoms who are notorious for economic exploitation and legal injustice. Jeroboam 2 perpetuated the idolatrous culture that was instituted by Jeroboam 1; he added pagan elements to the existing golden calf worship. The altars at Bethel and Gilgal were steeped in idolatry with no remembrance of the one true God. Who would desire an assignment like this in this present day? Who would go to represent the voice of God in this present day culture that is contaminated with the leaven of this world?

Here is the content of the message given to Amos :

Amos 9:1 I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and He said: “Strike the doorposts, that the thresholds may shake, And break them on the heads of them all. I will slay the last of them with the sword. He who flees from them shall not get away, And he who escapes from them shall not be delivered. 2 “Though they dig into hell, From there My hand shall take them; Though they climb up to heaven, From there I will bring them down; 3 And though they hide themselves on top of Carmel, From there I will search and take them; Though they hide from My sight at the bottom of the sea, From there I will command the serpent, and it shall bite them; 4 Though they go into captivity before their enemies, From there I will command the sword, And it shall slay them. I will set My eyes on them for harm and not for good”

God is simply saying to His people, including the illegal priests …. There is no place in heaven, earth or under the earth in the oceans where you can hide from Me.

Take the very same doorposts and strike them on their heads. None shall get away! The Lord has set His eyes upon you. The imagery here is one where people are running away in fear and terror, afraid of the impending judgement of the Lord. God has positioned Himself as the righteous Judge at the altar of idolatry in Bethel. No one can bypass Him or avoid Him

“Strike the doorposts, that the thresholds may shake,And break them on the heads of them

The doorposts are a reference to those who represent Christ, the Door of the sheepfold. It is a reference to the leadership of the altars set up by Jeroboam in Bethel and Gilgal. The words given to the prophet clearly reveals and represents the exact mood, frustration and dissatisfaction of God concerning the conduct of His people.

God’s expectation of His people is that they would become a kingdom of priests and a holy nation, devoting themselves to the service and worship of the one true God. He is hugely disappointed with the spiritual condition of His people.

God’s evaluation and assessment.

Amos 9:7 “Are you not like the people of Ethiopia to Me, O children of Israel?” says the LORD. “Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt, The Philistines from Caphtor, And the Syrians from Kir?

The Ethiopians or the Cushites that the scriptures are referring to are a wild and savage people, descendants of Ham, devoid of any civilisation, steeped in idolatry and pagan worship. The Lord, standing at the altar, observed that the behavior and conduct of His people was not dissimilar to that of the barbaric Cushites. God’s people are relying copiously on their genealogy; that their roots are in Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They feel entitled, emboldened and empowered because they are of the seed of father Abraham; their pride has its roots in their pedigree. Identity is meaningless if these people do not demonstrate the culture of Abraham. Abraham was a friend of God. He trusted God completely. Abraham had an enduring relationship with the one true God who called him out of the idolatrous culture of his family. Jesus is in agreement with this position.

John 8:39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.

Yet even in the face of this harsh rebuke, we encounter the enduring mercies of God towards the remnant who have been faithful to Him. God will not slay the righteous with the wicked. For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil. From this apostate culture , there will emerge a remnant, a little flock. In the backdrop of this imagery of idolatry, devastation and ruin, the Lord would release His gracious promises through His prophet Amos.

Amos 9:11 “On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old; 12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,” Says the LORD who does this thing.

The Lord assumes divine responsibility to restore and recover His remnant. The remnant shall gather as a Davidic company. The Lord will attend to all the damages that have been caused. He will raise the ruins. God will rebuild it as in the days of old, restoring the integrity of the Tabernacle. It is through the lineage of David, a a man after God’s own heart, that Christ would enter this earth. God will not allow the destruction of the very conduit or womb through which the Messiah would emerge. As His representatives, we must avail ourselves to be used as His proxies in this process, reflecting the integrity of the Tabernacle in our service to the Lord.

Amós profetiza, em primeiro lugar, sobre o julgamento do povo de Deus. Lembre-se que quando falamos sobre Israel, estamos nos referindo ao Israel espiritual, a igreja de Deus

Se você pensava que nossa pregação atual era abrasiva para os ouvidos, pense no povo de Deus durante o tempo dos profetas; poupe um pensamento para o próprio profeta, como Amós, que foi implantado pelo Senhor para levar uma Palavra de repreensão e castigo ao povo de Deus.

Não é de admirar que Deus fizesse a Isaías a pergunta: “E quem irá por nós?”

Parece que não havia muitos que falariam em Seu nome. Amós teve que arriscar ferimentos pessoais, bem como ser desacreditado em seu ministério, para liberar essas palavras a respeito do altar idólatra em Betel. Isso foi durante a linha do tempo de Jeroboão 2 e Uzias, dois dos reis mais poderosos dos reinos do Norte e do Sul, notórios pela exploração econômica e injustiça legal. Jeroboão 2 perpetuou a cultura idólatra instituída por Jeroboão 1; ele acrescentou elementos pagãos à adoração do bezerro de ouro existente. Os altares de Betel e Gilgal estavam imersos na idolatria, sem nenhuma lembrança do único Deus verdadeiro. Quem desejaria uma tarefa como esta nos dias de hoje? Quem iria representar a voz de Deus na cultura atual que está contaminada com o fermento deste mundo?

Aqui está o conteúdo da mensagem dada a Amós:

Amós 9:1-4 Vi o Senhor junto ao altar, e ele disse: “Bata no topo das colunas para que tremam os umbrais. Faça que elas caiam sobre todos os presentes; e os que sobrarem matarei à espada. Ninguém fugirá, ninguém escapará. Ainda que escavem até às profundezas, dali a minha mão irá tirá-los. Se subirem até os céus, de lá os farei descer. Mesmo que se escondam no topo do Carmelo, lá os caçarei e os prenderei. Ainda que se escondam de mim no fundo do mar, ali ordenarei à serpente que os morda. Mesmo que sejam levados ao exílio por seus inimigos, ali ordenarei que a espada os mate. Vou vigiá-los para lhes fazer o mal e não o bem”.

Deus está simplesmente dizendo ao Seu povo, incluindo os sacerdotes ilegais…. Não há nenhum lugar no céu, terra ou sob a terra nos oceanos onde você possa se esconder de mim.

Pegue os mesmos batentes das portas e bata-os nas cabeças. Ninguém vai fugir! O Senhor colocou Seus olhos em você. A imagem aqui é aquela em que as pessoas estão fugindo de medo e terror, com medo do julgamento iminente do Senhor. Deus se posicionou como o juiz justo no altar da idolatria em Betel. Ninguém pode contorná-lo ou evitá-lo

“Bata no topo das colunas para que tremam os umbrais. Faça que elas caiam sobre todos os presentes;

Os batentes das portas são uma referência para aqueles que representam Cristo, a Porta do redil. É uma referência à liderança dos altares erguidos por Jeroboão em Betel e Gilgal. As palavras dadas ao profeta revelam e representam claramente o humor exato, a frustração e a insatisfação de Deus com relação à conduta de Seu povo.

A expectativa de Deus de Seu povo é que eles se tornassem um reino de sacerdotes e uma nação santa, se dedicando ao serviço e adoração do único Deus verdadeiro. Ele está extremamente desapontado com a condição espiritual de Seu povo.

Avaliação e taxação de Deus.

Amós 9: 7 “Vocês, israelitas, não são para mim melhores do que os etíopes”, declara o SENHOR. “Eu tirei Israel do Egito, os filisteus de Caftor e os arameus de Quir.

Os etíopes ou cuchitas aos quais as escrituras se referem são um povo selvagem e feroz, descendentes de Cam, desprovido de qualquer civilização, mergulhado na idolatria e na adoração pagã. O Senhor, de pé no altar, observou que o comportamento e a conduta de Seu povo não eram diferentes dos bárbaros cusitas. O povo de Deus está confiando copiosamente em sua genealogia; que suas raízes estão em Abraão, Isaque e Jacó. Eles se sentem no direito, encorajados e capacitados porque são da semente do pai Abraão; seu orgulho tem raízes em seu pedigree. O Senhor assume a responsabilidade divina de restaurar e recuperar Seu remanescente. O remanescente se reunirá como um grupo davídico. O Senhor cuidará de todos os danos causados. Ele levantará as ruínas. Deus o reconstruirá como nos dias antigos, restaurando a integridade do Tabernáculo. É por meio da linhagem de Davi, um homem segundo o coração de Deus, que Cristo entrará nesta terra. Deus não permitirá a destruição do próprio conduto ou útero através do qual o Messias emergirá. Como Seus representantes, devemos nos valer para ser usados como Seus procuradores neste processo, refletindo a integridade do Tabernáculo em nosso serviço ao Senhor.

We will examine some of the Apostle Paul’s instructions to the church in Thessalonica, especially concerning some of the challenges that they encountered there.

2 Thessalonians 3:4 And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you.

Paul is commanding/instructing the believers in Thessalonica in his letter to follow the good examples that they have set before them whilst functioning in the midst of a disorderly, unfaithful, unreasonable and troublesome group of people who are hostile to their instructions. There are moments in ministry, where the man of God would need to issue direct commands to the people under his care. Like in the formation of Gideon’s army, those who are fearful and afraid must go home.

Paul declares positively that they are confident that the core group of believers among the Thessalonians will be obedient to their commands. Paul is clearly confronting the emergence of a counter culture within the group that he calls “unreasonable” and “disorderly”. This leads us to believe that at some stage Paul or the others must have tried to reason with them.

2 Thessalonians 3:11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.

A busybody – The root word in Greek,(periergos), which is translated as one who is a worker of magic or one who is a witch. A meddler, or a marplot is someone who meddles in the affairs of others. The chief pleasure of the busybody is knowing everybody’s business. (Definition extracted from Complete Word Study Dictionary)

Paul commends the faith of the Thessalonian believers, speaking in glowing terms about them, almost boasting, but most especially speaking of the inescapable, eventual final judgement on all those who have positioned themselves against the Lord and His people.

2 Thessalonians 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, 4 so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, 5 which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; 6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, 7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

This church that was founded by Paul was clearly taught that the church is a family of God. Constant interference from those who have positioned themselves to destroy the father/son wineskin and the culture of family has opened the window for strife, contention and division.

What are the traditions that Paul has left with these believers ? We are all familiar with the four pillars of the culture of the early church.

Apostles’ doctrine, fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayers. Paul discloses a few details to the Thessalonians regarding the pillar of fellowship

2 Thessalonians 3:6 But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us.

Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.

The Apostle Paul has not made a humble request – this is a direct command from the Apostle who founded the church in Thessalonica. We need to strengthen ourselves mentally in order to separate ourselves from those who are disorderly and lawless in our midst. Paul recognizes that the church of Jesus Christ will be impeded in it’s growth as long as we have those in our midst who are constantly defying direct instructions and commands issued by the spiritual father of the household of faith.

Disciples of the Lord are not surprised by the presence of manifestations of evil in their habitat. Jesus said this :

Matthew 10: 16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Disciples of the Lord have been told about the dangers concerning their assignment. Don’t be surprised at the sight and sound of wolves howling in your back yard or even entering through an open back door.

Paul said this to the Philippians in ….. Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. 14 Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.

Once again, disciples are informed about the environment in which they will function….. the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, kin it’s very heart. It is in this place where we are called to shine as lights in the world – in a place of deep darkness. Do not battle with “flesh and blood”. We must be perceived to be “harmless”.

THE APOSTLES SET AN EXAMPLE OF BEING ORDERLY

2 Thessalonians 3:7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; 8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, 9 not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us. 10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.

2 Thessalonians 3: 13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.

This remains the greatest challenge that faces those who represent the Lord; it has been a challenge tome anyway – not to give up doing good because of those among us who continue to walk in a disorderly manner. Disorderly, divisive and lawless individuals impart a spirit of weariness to the household of faith. This demands that our defensive actions have to defy all sense of logic and reason. How do we retain our testimony in the face of relentless intimidation?

• Be faithful in the midst of unfaithful people ( Paul declares that although not all men have faith, the Lord is faithful)

• Be honest in the midst of dishonest people

• Be gentle in the midst of brutal people

• Be grateful in the midst of ungrateful people

• Respect the anointed in the midst of mockers, scorners and slanderers of the anointed.

Do not grow weary in doing good. May God help us.

Examinaremos algumas das instruções do apóstolo Paulo para a igreja em Tessalônica, especialmente no que diz respeito a alguns dos desafios que eles encontraram lá.

2 Tessalonicenses 3:4 4 E temos confiança no Senhor a respeito de vocês, tanto que vocês fazem como farão as coisas que nós lhes ordenamos.

Paulo está comandando / instruindo os cristãos em Tessalônica em sua carta a seguirem os bons exemplos que deram a eles enquanto atuavam no meio de um grupo desordenado, infiel, irracional e problemático de pessoas que são hostis às suas instruções. Há momentos no ministério em que o homem de Deus precisaria dar ordens diretas às pessoas sob seus cuidados. Como na formação do exército de Gideão, aqueles que estão temerosos e com medo devem voltar para casa.

Paulo declara positivamente que eles estão confiantes de que o grupo principal de crentes entre os tessalonicenses será obediente aos seus mandamentos. Paul está claramente confrontando o surgimento de uma contracultura dentro do grupo que ele chama de “irracional” e “desordenada”. Isso nos leva a acreditar que em algum estágio Paulo ou os outros devem ter tentado argumentar com eles.

2 Tessalonicenses 3:11 11 Porque ouvimos que alguns há que andam entre vós desordenadamente, nem trabalham, mas são intrometidos.

Paulo elogia a fé dos crentes de Tessalônica, falando em termos entusiasmados sobre eles, quase se vangloriando, mas mais especialmente falando do inevitável julgamento final sobre todos aqueles que se posicionaram contra o Senhor e Seu povo.

2 Tessalonicenses 1:3-9 3 Irmãos, somos obrigados a agradecer sempre a Deus por vós, como convém, porque a vossa fé aumenta muito, e o amor de cada um de vós é abundante uns pelos outros, 4 para que nós mesmos nos gloriamos entre as igrejas de Deus, por sua paciência e fé em todas as perseguições e tribulações que suportar, 5 o que é evidência manifesta do justo julgamento de Deus, para que você seja considerado digno do reino de Deus, pelo qual também sofre; 6 visto que é justo para Deus retribuir com tribulação aqueles que vos perturbam, 7 e dar-vos, que estais atribulados, descanso conosco, quando o Senhor Jesus é revelado do céu com os seus anjos poderosos, 8 em chamas de fogo tomando vingança sobre aqueles que não conhecem a Deus, e sobre aqueles que não obedecem ao evangelho de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo. 9 Estes serão punidos com destruição eterna, da presença do Senhor e da glória do Seu poder,

Esta igreja que foi fundada por Paulo foi claramente ensinada que a igreja é uma família de Deus. A interferência constante daqueles que se posicionaram para destruir o odre pai / filho e a cultura da família abriu a janela para contendas, disputas e divisões.

Quais são as tradições que Paulo deixou com esses crentes? Todos nós estamos familiarizados com os quatro pilares da cultura da igreja primitiva.

A doutrina dos apóstolos, comunhão, no partir do pão e orações. Paulo revela alguns detalhes aos tessalonicenses a respeito da coluna da comunhão.

2 Tessalonicenses 3:6 6 Mas nós vos ordenamos, irmãos, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que vocês se afastem de todo irmão que anda desordenadamente e não segundo a tradição que ele recebeu de nós.

Salmos 1:1-2 1 Bem-aventurado o homem que não anda segundo o conselho dos ímpios, nem se detém no caminho dos pecadores, nem se assenta na roda dos escarnecedores; 2 Antes tem o seu prazer na lei do Senhor, e na sua lei medita de dia e noite.

O apóstolo Paulo não fez um pedido humilde – esta é uma ordem direta do apóstolo que fundou a igreja em Tessalônica. Precisamos nos fortalecer mentalmente para nos separar daqueles que estão desordenados e sem lei em nosso meio. Paulo reconhece que a igreja de Jesus Cristo terá seu crescimento impedido enquanto tivermos aqueles em nosso meio que estão constantemente desafiando as instruções e comandos diretos emitidos pelo pai espiritual da família da fé.

Os discípulos do Senhor não se surpreendem com a presença de manifestações do mal em seu habitat. Jesus disse isso:

Mateus 10:16 16 “Eis que vos envio como ovelhas ao meio de lobos. Portanto, sejam sábios como as serpentes e inofensivos como as pombas.

Os discípulos do Senhor foram informados sobre os perigos de sua designação. Não se surpreenda com a visão e o som de lobos uivando em seu quintal ou mesmo entrando por uma porta traseira aberta.

Paulo disse isso aos filipenses em … Filipenses 2:13-16 13 porque é Deus quem opera em vocês tanto o querer como o fazer para a Sua boa vontade. 14 Fazei todas as coisas sem reclamar e contestar, 15 para que sejais irrepreensíveis e inocentes, filhos de Deus sem culpa no meio de uma geração corrupta e perversa, entre a qual brilhas como luzes no mundo, 16 retendo a palavra da vida , para que eu possa me alegrar no dia de Cristo por não ter corrido em vão nem trabalhado em vão.

Mais uma vez, os discípulos são informados sobre o ambiente em que funcionarão … no meio de uma geração distorcida e perversa, parente, é o coração. É neste lugar que somos chamados a brilhar como luzes no mundo – em um lugar de escuridão profunda. Não lute com “carne e sangue”. Devemos ser considerados “inofensivos”.

OS APÓSTOLOS SÃO UM EXEMPLO DE SER ORDENADO

2 Tessalonicenses 3:7-12 7 Pois vós mesmos sabeis como nos deves seguir, porque não éramos desordenados entre vós; 8 nem comemos de graça o pão de ninguém, mas trabalhamos com trabalho e fadiga noite e dia, para não ser um peso para nenhum de vós, 9 não porque não temos autoridade, mas para nos tornarmos exemplo de você deve nos seguir. 10 Pois ainda quando estávamos convosco, vos mandávamos isto: se alguém não trabalhar, também não comerá. 11 Pois sabemos que alguns há que andam entre vós desordenadamente, sem trabalhar, mas são intrometidos. 12 Aos tais, ordenamos e exortamos, por nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que trabalhem sossegadamente e comam seu próprio pão.

2 Tessalonicenses 3: 13Mas, quanto a vós, irmãos, não vos canseis de fazer o bem.

Este continua sendo o maior desafio enfrentado por aqueles que representam o Senhor; De qualquer forma, tem sido um desafio para mim – não desistir de fazer o bem por causa daqueles entre nós que continuam a andar desordenadamente. Indivíduos desordenados, divisivos e sem lei transmitem um espírito de cansaço à família da fé. Isso exige que nossas ações defensivas desafiem todo senso de lógica e razão. Como conservamos nosso testemunho em face da intimidação implacável?

• Seja fiel no meio de pessoas infiéis (Paulo declara que embora nem todos os homens tenham fé, o Senhor é fiel)

• Seja honesto no meio de pessoas desonestas

• Seja gentil no meio de pessoas brutais

• Seja grato no meio de pessoas ingratas

• Respeite o ungido no meio de zombadores e caluniadores dos ungidos.

Não se canse de fazer o bem. Que Deus nos ajude.

A month ago Apostle Roy taught us about the Divine Intent of God. God created us in his image and likeness, so that through us God can be revealed and make His appeal on earth.

Everything that is in God the heavenly father can be seen through us His creation. I would like to appeal to you to trust God’s will and intent for our lives.

God commanded Moses to gather the people on Mount Sinai where He would dictate to Moses His commandments and laws that are necessary to build His ways into His people.

Jesus makes this statement regarding the barrier of entry into the Kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

During these difficult and perilous times that we are facing it is important for us to be consistent in our trust in God’s will for our lives. This is our safety net, especially during these challenging times. God had a definite desire for humanity when He created us.

The importance for the believer to perform His will is enshrined in the Lord’s Prayer.

Matthew 6:9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

We as believers cannot function from outside His will. His will and purpose for our lives is what defines us. His will establishes us.

Exodus 19:4 You have seen what i did to the Egyptians and how I bore you on eagles wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to me above all people, for all the earth is Mine.

If we are Faithful and remain in God’s will and Intent for our lives God says we will be a special treasure to Him. God would prioritize His relationship with His covenantal people. Often in our journey we get distracted from pursuing God’s will. Most of us can recall the number of times God had to rescue and bring us to safety. Even in our most challenging times it would be wise to remain in God’s will.

Whether we find ourselves in captivity or in the wilderness our place of safety is to remain in God’s will. He promised never to leave nor forsake us. We cannot predict the future and whats going to happen in months to come but we can trust in God’s will and purpose for our lives. The scriptures declare that His word will never return void but it will accomplish everything that it has purposed.

The heart is deceptive. An ascended position demands cleanliness of hands and purity of heart.

Psalms 24:1-4
1 The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.
2 For He has founded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the waters.
3 Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor sworn deceitfully.

The condition of our hearts may prevent us from remaining in God’s will. It is the seat of our emotions. Our emotions can lead us away from God’s will and purpose for us. The scriptures declare that His ways are higher than our ways. Our emotions can overwhelm us. We get so caught up in satisfying our own personal desires and will; we forget that we serve for His good pleasure.

2 Samuel 18 speaks about Ahimaaz who was determined to carry tragic news to David. He was more competent in running than most of the young men, even the seasoned Cushites, but it was not intended for him to run with this particular message. He was passionate but he did not have the temperament to relay the message that David’s son had died. Ahimaaz had the reputation of being a good man who brings good news.

2 Samuel 18:27 So the watchman said, “I think the running of the first is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok.” And the king said, “He is a good man, and comes with good news.”

Our emotions must be restrained to deliver classified military reports from the field of battle.

Jeremiah declares that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Deceitful means to deceive, to give false impressions, to be treacherous and crafty. Our heart can give us a false impression of God’s will. We need to pray for divine discernment, so we can understand what is the will of God is for our lives. Daniel exercised great restraint over his emotions. Although he was presented with the finest food and drink in Babylon he resolved in his heart not to defile himself. His heart was not easily persuaded. He remained true to his God. The food and drink of Babylon represent the counsel, philosophy and the literature of the Chaldean system. God is the chief architect of our lives. We cannot change God’s plans for our lives. Our lives and purpose have been mapped out and predestined by God. In a natural building an architect may draw plans; if we are unhappy with them we can change things in the design to meet our preference. God’s designs for our lives are predetermined. We need to submit to God’s divine plan for our lives.

For us to understand the will of God for us we need to have an active relationship with God.

Revelation 3:20 Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice, and opens the door. I will come in to him and eat with him and he with me.

The ascended Christ respected His church. Where Jesus, the Son of Man walked into the synagogue and declared it to be a habitation of thieves – the Ascended Christ knew how to stand at the door and knock and wait to be invited into His house. Christ is knocking at the door of our hearts (the spiritual Temple). In the natural if we want to understand the intent of our fathers, we go and talk to them and they speak to us their desires. Similarly if we want to discern the will of our Heavenly Father, we need to maintain constant communication with Him so that His will may be revealed to us. Let us engage the Holy Spirit and develop a vibrant relationship with Him. God is a Triune God. We must recognise the importance and value of each person of the Holy Trinity. The scriptures declare that the Spirit, who is another Helper, will lead us into all truth. We must allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to us God’s will for our lives.

Psalms 119:59 I thought about my ways, And turned my feet to Your testimonies. 60 I made haste, and did not delay to keep Your commandments.

We are living in challenging times. It is important for us not to delay but to be quick to discern the will of God for our lives. Therein lies our peace and rest.

Tudo o que está em Deus, o pai celestial, pode ser visto através de nós, Sua criação. Gostaria de apelar a você para que confie na vontade e intenção de Deus para nossas vidas.

Deus ordenou a Moisés que reunisse o povo no Monte Sinai, onde ditaria a Moisés Seus mandamentos e leis que são necessários para construir Seus caminhos dentro de Seu povo.

Jesus fez esta declaração a respeito da barreira de entrada no Reino dos céus.

Mateus 7:21 “Nem todo aquele que me diz: Senhor, Senhor, ‘entrará no reino dos céus, mas sim aquele que faz a vontade de meu Pai que está nos céus.

Durante estes tempos difíceis e perigosos que enfrentamos, é importante que sejamos consistentes em nossa confiança na vontade de Deus para nossas vidas. Esta é a nossa rede de segurança, especialmente durante estes tempos desafiadores. Deus tinha um desejo definido pela humanidade quando nos criou.

A importância para o cristão de realizar Sua vontade está consagrada na Oração do Senhor.

Mateus 6:9-10 9 Portanto, ore desta maneira: Pai nosso que estás nos céus, santificado seja o teu nome. 10 Venha o seu reino. Sua vontade seja feita na terra como no céu.

Nós, como cristãos, não podemos funcionar fora de Sua vontade. Sua vontade e propósito para nossas vidas é o que nos define. Sua vontade nos estabelece.

Êxodo 19:4 Você viu o que eu fiz aos egípcios e como eu te carreguei nas asas de águia e te trouxe para mim. Agora, portanto, se você realmente obedecer a minha voz e guardar meu convênio, então você será um tesouro especial para mim acima de todas as pessoas, pois toda a terra é Minha.

Se formos fiéis e permanecermos na vontade e intenção de Deus para nossas vidas, Deus diz que seremos um tesouro especial para ele. Deus priorizaria Seu relacionamento com Seu povo da aliança. Frequentemente, em nossa jornada, nos distraímos de buscar a vontade de Deus. A maioria de nós pode se lembrar do número de vezes que Deus teve que nos resgatar e nos levar à segurança. Mesmo em nossos momentos mais desafiadores, seria sábio permanecer na vontade de Deus.

Quer estejamos em cativeiro ou no deserto, nosso lugar de segurança é permanecer na vontade de Deus. Ele prometeu nunca nos deixar nem nos abandonar. Não podemos prever o futuro e o que vai acontecer nos próximos meses, mas podemos confiar na vontade e no propósito de Deus para nossas vidas. As escrituras declaram que Sua palavra nunca voltará vazia, mas cumprirá tudo o que se propôs.

O coração é enganoso. Uma posição ascendida exige limpeza de mãos e pureza de coração.

Salmos 24:1 A terra é do Senhor, e toda a sua plenitude, O mundo e aqueles que nele habitam. 2 Pois ele o fundou sobre os mares, E estabeleceu-o sobre as águas. 3 Quem pode subir ao monte do Senhor? Ou quem pode permanecer em Seu lugar santo? 4 Aquele que é limpo de mãos e puro de coração, Quem não elevou sua alma a um ídolo, Nem jurou enganosamente.

A condição de nossos corações pode nos impedir de permanecer na vontade de Deus. É a sede de nossas emoções. Nossas emoções podem nos afastar da vontade e do propósito de Deus para nós. As escrituras declaram que Seus caminhos são mais elevados do que os nossos. Nossas emoções podem nos oprimir. Ficamos tão envolvidos em satisfazer nossos próprios desejos e vontades pessoais; esquecemos que servimos para Seu bom prazer.

2 Samuel 18 fala sobre Aimaás, que estava determinado a levar notícias trágicas a Davi. Ele era mais competente na corrida do que a maioria dos rapazes, mesmo os experientes cusitas, mas não era para ele correr com esta mensagem em particular. Ele era apaixonado, mas não tinha temperamento para transmitir a mensagem de que o filho de Davi havia morrido. Ahimaaz tinha a reputação de ser um bom homem que traz boas notícias.

Seu coração não foi facilmente persuadido. Ele permaneceu fiel ao seu Deus. A comida e a bebida da Babilônia representam o conselho, a filosofia e a literatura do sistema caldeu. Deus é o principal arquiteto de nossas vidas. Não podemos mudar os planos de Deus para nossas vidas. Nossa vida e propósito foram mapeados e predestinados por Deus. Em um edifício natural, um arquiteto pode desenhar plantas; se não estivermos satisfeitos com eles, podemos mudar as coisas no design para atender às nossas preferências. Os desígnios de Deus para nossas vidas são predeterminados. Precisamos nos submeter ao plano divino de Deus para nossas vidas.

Para entendermos a vontade de Deus para nós, precisamos ter um relacionamento ativo com Deus.

Apocalipse 3:20 Eis que estou à porta e bato. Se alguém ouvir minha voz, e abrir a porta. Entrarei em sua casa e cearei com ele e ele comigo.

O Cristo ascendido respeitou Sua igreja. Onde Jesus, o Filho do Homem, entrou na sinagoga e declarou que era uma habitação de ladrões – o Cristo Ascensionado sabia como ficar na porta e bater e esperar ser convidado a entrar em Sua casa. Cristo está batendo à porta de nossos corações (o templo espiritual). No natural, se queremos entender a intenção de nossos pais, vamos falar com eles e eles nos falam de seus desejos. Da mesma forma, se quisermos discernir a vontade de nosso Pai Celestial, precisamos manter uma comunicação constante com Ele para que Sua vontade nos seja revelada. Vamos envolver o Espírito Santo e desenvolver um relacionamento vibrante com ele. Deus é um Deus Triúno. Devemos reconhecer a importância e o valor de cada pessoa da Santíssima Trindade. As escrituras declaram que o Espírito, que é outro Facilitador, nos conduzirá a toda a verdade. Devemos permitir que o Espírito Santo nos revele a vontade de Deus para nossas vidas.

Vivemos tempos desafiadores. É importante que não demoremos, mas que sejamos rápidos em discernir a vontade de Deus para nossas vidas. É aí que reside nossa paz e descanso.
