This morning I would like to share from the book of Hosea who prophesied just before the impending captivity of the people of God.

For the time we have at our disposal today I would like to share a few thoughts with you.

Hosea is one of the clearest types of Christ in the scriptures. God uses His prophet to openly reveal the great disappointment in heart of God concerning His people.

It would appear to me that God had exhausted all His conventional methods of engaging His people. God raised some of the most profound prophetic voices to call His people back to Him, voices like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Elijah, Elisha, Samuel, Ezekiel, Malachi; these are those who were exact representatives of the mind and heart of God. They spoke as oracles of God.

God released His finest articulators and teachers of His Word. Yet God’s people would remain embedded and ensconced in their idolatrous ways; having lost all notion of discerning right from wrong.

It is as if, the servants of God are all preached out, they have poured themselves out like drink offerings into the lives of God’s people; yet the people of God appear to be oblivious to the reality that they have estranged themselves from God.

If creation, at that point in time, had an expectation for the emergence of sons of God, it was not going to happen in that point in Israel’s journey with God.

Now we see God use Hosea in a completely different way. His own life would be translated to become the very experience of God in the presence and in the face of His people; like a mobile billboard.

His life would become a living, practical expression of all the exasperation that is in the heart of God.

The book of Hosea is full of graphic metaphors and symbolism. There is an overarching spirit of love demonstrated by a God who is intent on keeping His covenant with a people who think nothing of breaking covenants.

GOD’S COVENANT WITH HIS PEOPLE

Let us examine a few scriptures that reveal the heart of God concerning His covenant with His people. God is betrothed to His people. We are His people and He is our God.

Exodus 19:4 You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

The reward for keeping this covenant is this : “You shall be a special treasure to Me above all people”. This covenant is conditional – “if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant”

Israel had just emerged victorious against the Amalekites. It is a good time for God to talk about keeping covenant. God had just demonstrated what a powerful ally He is concerning the safety and security of His people ; Aaron and Hur lifted up the hands of Moses and Israel experienced victory. This creates the imagery of “all things working together” for the good of the people of God.

Isaiah 54:5 For your Maker is your husband, the LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.

Jeremiah 3:14 “Return, O backsliding children,” says the LORD; “for I am married to you. I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”

God would regularly speak with His people concerning His covenant and His protection and care over them, sadly, they would regularly violate their covenants.

With this in mind, let us take a look at Hosea 1:2

Hosea 1:2 When the LORD began to speak by Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea: “Go, take yourself a wife of harlotry and children of harlotry, For the land has committed great harlotry by departing from the LORD.” 3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son.

This must have come as a shock to Hosea and his family; my research informs me that he came from a solid family upbringing, from the higher echelons of society.

Yet God would choose him to represent His love and care for a people not deserving of love or mercy. This is the definition of grace. The instruction is to take a harlot to be his wife.

He must love her; teach her to become faithful; have a family with her; restore her dignity; redeem her status in society. Be an exact representation of God’s love and care for her well being. Not only was Hosea commissioned to take a wife of harlotry, he was also told about the children of harlotry.

Hosea must prepare himself, mentally and spiritually, for this unique experience. He, as a representative of God, must remain “Faithful and True” whilst being married to an unfaithful wife. He must experience the daily frustration of seeing his wife (the people of God) continuing with her harlotry. Hosea will never know if he is the true father of his children. His frustration and deep pain exactly represents the frustration and pain in the heart of God.

This was Hosea’s assignment. Hosea cannot legislate or enforce love. All he had to do was to continue to love as he had been commanded.

God will judge His people on their insistence on being unfaithful and rebellious. His mandate is to marry this unfaithful woman. This is the expression of the love of the Father.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

As I said, the finest teaching and preaching, the greatest acts of personal sacrifice, could not bring His people to the place of obedience. We are experiencing open defiance to His Word in many places.

The offer of love was made; This is all Hosea was expected to do; be a type of the sacrificial lamb of God; God wants Hosea to experience exactly what He was experiencing.

Refusal to accept the grace of God will send His people into Babylonian exile – a place of outer spiritual darkness. Israel, the backslidden harlot must know how to respond to this love; to restore their relationship with God.

Sadly, even in this present day, leaders continue to confront the reality of apostasy that is evident among the people of God.

When the Lord’s people forsake him and worship false gods, their infidelity to Almighty God is described as spiritual adultery. God’s people have forsaken their God and chased after other lovers.

Hosea 2:5 For their mother has played the harlot; She who conceived them has behaved shamefully. For she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, Who give me my bread and my water, My wool and my linen, My oil and my drink.’ 6 “Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, And wall her in, so that she cannot find her paths. 7 She will chase her lovers, But not overtake them; Yes, she will seek them, but not find them. Then she will say, “I will go and return to my first husband, For then it was better for me than now.’

“I will go after my lovers”

• The harlot is not interested in our grace, revelation, knowledge of the scriptures or how anointed we may be – the only thing that moves her is the financial benefit to her; this drives her to seek other lovers.

• When the the ten tribes idolised the calves at Dan and Bethel; when Israel worshipped pagan gods on high mountains and under every green tree, they were seeking other lovers

• Alliances and treaties that Israel made with with the Assyrians, Egyptians and other Gentile nations that were not sanctioned by the Lord and were hostile to the culture and ways of God.

Ezekiel 16:28 You also played the harlot with the Assyrians, because you were insatiable; indeed you played the harlot with them and still were not satisfied. 29 Moreover you multiplied your acts of harlotry as far as the land of the trader, Chaldea; and even then you were not satisfied. 30 “How degenerate is your heart!” says the Lord GOD, “seeing you do all these things, the deeds of a brazen harlot.

• The Jews trusted in being governed by a Roman administration rather than their own kings. When they chose obedience to Caesar, and rejected their Messiah Jesus Christ; this constitutes chasing after other lovers.

The judgement for these atrocious acts of infidelity by the people of God was the Babylonian exile and captivity.

God wants His people to return to their FIRST LOVE, to the One who first loved us.

Hosea 8:8 Israel is swallowed up; Now they are among the Gentiles. Like a vessel in which is no pleasure. 9 For they have gone up to Assyria, Like a wild donkey alone by itself; Ephraim has hired lovers.

A wild donkey is a picture of an animal that refuses to be harnessed to the Lord and His Word. This is the metaphor God uses to describe His people.

GOD’S CONTINUED LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE

Hosea 11:1 “When Israel was a child, I loved him, And out of Egypt I called My son.

We see a people that started well; who were faithful, but now have gone astray.

THE PROMISE OF THE RESTORATION OF ISRAEL

Hosea 14: 1 O Israel, return to the Lord your God, For you have stumbled because of your iniquity; 2 Take words with you, And return to the Lord. Say to Him, “Take away all iniquity; Receive us graciously, For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips.

THE CONFESSION

3 Assyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, ‘You are our gods.’ For in You the fatherless finds mercy.” 4 “I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him. 5 I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily, And lengthen his roots like Lebanon. 6 His branches shall spread; His beauty shall be like an olive tree, And his fragrance like Lebanon. 7 Those who dwell under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain, And grow like a vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon. 8 “Ephraim shall say, ‘What have I to do anymore with idols?’ I have heard and observed him. I am like a green cypress tree; Your fruit is found in Me.” 9 Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them.

God is a jealous God. He is jealous over His people to whom He is married. God will not compete for the affection and devotion that is due to Him by His people. We need to declare as His corporate Son …… “Assyria shall not save us”.

Verse 3 says “We will not ride on horses”. The people of God must declare “We will not trust in the horses of Egypt”. Let us join with David and declare :

Psalms 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

Oséias – Expressando o Coração de Deus

Nesta manhã, gostaria de compartilhar do livro de Oséias, que profetizou pouco antes do cativeiro iminente do povo de Deus.

Pelo tempo que temos à nossa disposição hoje, gostaria de compartilhar alguns pensamentos com você.

Oséias é um dos tipos mais claros de Cristo nas escrituras. Deus usa Seu profeta para revelar abertamente a grande decepção no coração de Deus em relação ao Seu povo.

Parece-me que Deus esgotou todos os Seus métodos convencionais de envolver Seu povo. Deus levantou algumas das mais profundas vozes proféticas para chamar Seu povo de volta a Ele, vozes como Isaías, Jeremias, Elias, Eliseu, Samuel, Ezequiel, Malaquias; estes são aqueles que foram representantes exatos da mente e do coração de Deus. Eles falavam como oráculos de Deus.

Deus liberou Seus melhores articuladores e professores de Sua Palavra. No entanto, o povo de Deus permaneceria incorporado e abrigado de maneira idólatra; tendo perdido toda a noção de discernir o certo do errado.

É como se todos os servos de Deus tivessem proclamando, derramando-se como ofertas de bebida na vida do povo de Deus; no entanto, o povo de Deus parece alheio à realidade de que se afastou de Deus.

Se a criação, naquele momento, tinha uma expectativa para o surgimento de filhos de Deus, isso não aconteceria naquele momento na jornada de Israel com Deus.

Agora vemos Deus usar Oséias de uma maneira completamente diferente. Sua própria vida seria traduzida para se tornar a própria experiência de Deus na presença e na face de Seu povo; como um outdoor móvel.

Sua vida se tornaria uma expressão viva e prática de toda a exasperação que está no coração de Deus.

 O livro de Oséias está cheio de metáforas gráficas e simbolismo. Existe um espírito abrangente de amor demonstrado por um Deus que tem a intenção de cumprir Sua aliança com um povo que não pensa em romper alianças.

ALIANÇA DE DEUS COM SEU POVO

Vamos examinar algumas escrituras que revelam o coração de Deus a respeito de Sua aliança com Seu povo. Deus está noivo de Seu povo. Nós somos o Seu povo e Ele é o nosso Deus.

Êxodo 19:4 Vistes o que fiz aos egípcios, e como vos carreguei sobre asas de águia, e vos trouxe a mim. 5 Agora, portanto, se realmente obedeceres a minha voz, e guardares o meu pacto, então sereis o meu tesouro peculiar acima de todos os povos, porque toda a terra é minha. 6 E sereis para mim um reino de sacerdotes e uma nação santa. Estas são as palavras que falarás aos filhos de Israel.

A recompensa por guardar essa aliança é a seguinte: “Você será um tesouro especial para mim acima de todas as pessoas”. Essa aliança é condicional – “se você realmente obedecer à minha voz e guardar a minha aliança”

Israel acabara de sair vitorioso contra os amalequitas. É um bom momento para Deus falar sobre guardar a aliança. Deus acabara de demonstrar que poderoso aliado Ele é em relação à segurança e proteção de Seu povo; Arão e Hur levantaram as mãos de Moisés e Israel experimentou a vitória. Isso cria a imagem de “todas as coisas trabalhando juntas” para o bem do povo de Deus.

Isaías 54:5 Porque teu Criador é teu marido. O SENHOR dos Exércitos é seu nome, e teu Redentor o Santo de Israel. O Deus de toda a terra será Ele denominado.

Jeremias 3:14 “Voltai, ó filhos que rejeitam”, diz o SENHOR; Porque sou casada contigo. Vou levá-lo, um de uma cidade e dois de uma família, e vou levá-lo para Sião.

Apocalipse 19:7 Alegremo-nos e regozijemo-nos, e demos honra a ele; porque as bodas do Cordeiro chegou, e sua esposa já se preparou.

Deus falava regularmente com Seu povo a respeito de Sua aliança e Sua proteção e cuidado com eles, infelizmente, eles violavam regularmente suas alianças.

Com isso em mente, vamos dar uma olhada em Oséias 1: 2

Oséias 1: 2 O princípio da palavra do SENHOR por meio de Oseias. E o SENHOR disse a Oseias: Vai, toma para ti uma mulher de prostituições, e filhos de prostituições; porque a terra cometeu grande prostituição, afastando-se do SENHOR. 3 Então ele foi e tomou Gômer, filha de Diblaim, e ela concebeu, e lhe deu um filho.

Isso deve ter sido um choque para Oséias e sua família; minha pesquisa me informa que ele veio de uma sólida formação familiar, dos mais altos escalões da sociedade.

No entanto, Deus o escolheria para representar Seu amor e cuidar de um povo que não merece amor ou misericórdia. Esta é a definição de graça. A instrução é levar uma prostituta para ser sua esposa.

Ele deve amá-la; ensine-a a se tornar fiel; ter uma família com ela; restaurar sua dignidade; resgatar seu status na sociedade. Seja uma representação exata do amor de Deus e cuide do bem-estar dela. Oséias não apenas foi contratado para tomar uma esposa da prostituição, mas também foi informado sobre os filhos da prostituição.

Oséias deve se preparar, mental e espiritualmente, para esta experiência única. Ele, como representante de Deus, deve permanecer “fiel e verdadeiro” enquanto estiver casado com uma esposa infiel. Ele deve experimentar a frustração diária de ver sua esposa (o povo de Deus) continuando com sua prostituição. Oséias nunca saberá se ele é o verdadeiro pai de seus filhos. Sua frustração e dor profunda representam exatamente a frustração e a dor no coração de Deus.

Essa foi a tarefa de Oséias. Oséias não pode legislar ou reforçar o amor. Tudo o que ele precisava fazer era continuar a amar como fora ordenado.

Deus julgará Seu povo por insistência em serem infiéis e rebeldes. Seu mandato é casar com essa mulher infiel. Esta é a expressão do amor do pai.

2 Coríntios 5:21 Porque aquele que não conheceu pecado, ele o fez pecado por nós, para que fôssemos feitos justiça de Deus nele.

Como eu disse, os melhores ensinamentos e pregações, os maiores atos de sacrifício pessoal, não podiam levar Seu povo ao lugar da obediência. Estamos experimentando um desafio aberto à Sua Palavra em muitos lugares.

A oferta de amor foi feita; Isto é tudo o que Oséias deveria fazer; seja um tipo do cordeiro sacrificial de Deus; Deus quer que Oséias experimente exatamente o que estava experimentando.

A recusa em aceitar a graça de Deus enviará Seu povo ao exílio na Babilônia – um lugar de escuridão espiritual externa. Israel, a prostituta desviada deve saber como responder a esse amor; restaurar o relacionamento deles com Deus.

Infelizmente, mesmo nos dias atuais, os líderes continuam a confrontar a realidade da apostasia que é evidente entre o povo de Deus.

Quando o povo do Senhor o abandona e adora deuses falsos, sua infidelidade ao Deus Todo Poderoso é descrita como adultério espiritual. O povo de Deus abandonou seu Deus e perseguiu outros amantes.

 

Oséias 2:5 Porque sua mãe se prostituiu; aquela que os concebeu se comportou vergonhosamente, porque ela disse: Irei atrás de meus amantes, que me dão o meu pão e a minha água, a minha lã e o meu linho, o meu óleo e a minha bebida. 6 Portanto, eis que cercarei o teu caminho com espinhos; e farei um muro, para que ela não ache os seus caminhos. 7 Ela irá atrás de seus amantes, mas não os alcançará; ela os buscará, mas não os encontrará; então ela dirá: Irei e retornarei ao meu primeiro marido, porque eu estava melhor do que agora. 

 

“Irei atrás dos meus amantes”

• A prostituta não está interessada em nossa graça, revelação, conhecimento das escrituras ou quão ungidos podemos ser – a única coisa que a move é o benefício financeiro para ela; isso a leva a procurar outros amantes.

• Quando as dez tribos idolatravam os bezerros em Dã e Betel; quando Israel adorava deuses pagãos nas altas montanhas e sob todas as árvores verdes, eles estavam procurando outros amantes.

• Alianças e tratados que Israel fez com os assírios, egípcios e outras nações gentias que não foram sancionadas pelo Senhor e eram hostis à cultura e aos caminhos de Deus.

Ezequiel 16

28 Você se prostituiu também com os assírios, porque era insaciável, e, mesmo depois disso, ainda não ficou satisfeita. 29 Então você aumentou a sua promiscuidade também com a Babilônia, uma terra de comerciantes, mas nem com isso ficou satisfeita.

30 “Como você tem pouca força de vontade, palavra do Soberano, o Senhor, quando você faz todas essas coisas, agindo como uma prostituta descarada!

• Os judeus confiavam em ser governados por uma administração romana, e não por seus próprios reis. Quando eles escolheram obediência a César e rejeitaram o Messias Jesus Cristo; isso constitui perseguir outros amantes.

O julgamento por esses atos atrozes de infidelidade por parte do povo de Deus foi o exílio e cativeiro da Babilônia.

Deus quer que Seu povo retorne ao PRIMEIRO AMOR, àquele que nos amou primeiro.

Oséias 8:8 Israel foi devorado; agora está entre os gentios como um vaso onde não há prazer. 9 Porque subiram à Assíria, como um jumento selvagem, por si só; Efraim contratou amantes. 

Um jumento selvagem é uma figura de um animal que se recusa a ser atrelado ao Senhor e à Sua Palavra. Essa é a metáfora que Deus usa para descrever Seu povo.

 

DEUS CONTINUA  A AMAR O SEU POVO

Oséias 11:1 Quando Israel era criança, eu o amei; e chamei o meu filho para fora do Egito.

Vemos um povo que começou bem; que eram fiéis, mas agora se perderam.

 

A PROMESSA DA RESTAURAÇÃO DE ISRAEL

 

Oséias 14:1-9 

1 Ó Israel, converte-te ao SENHOR teu Deus; porque caíste pela tua iniquidade. 2 Tomai convosco palavras, e converte-te ao SENHOR; diz a ele: Tira toda a iniquidade, e nos receba graciosamente; e ofereceremos os novilhos dos nossos lábios. 

 

A CONFISSÃO

3 A Assíria não nos salvará; não iremos montados em cavalos, e já não diremos mais à obra das nossas mãos: tu és o nosso deus; porque em ti o órfão encontra misericórdia. 4 Eu sararei a sua apostasia, eu os amarei voluntariamente; porque a minha ira se apartou dele. 5 Eu serei como o orvalho para Israel. Ele crescerá como o lírio e lançará as suas raízes como o Líbano. 6 Os seus galhos se estenderão, e a sua beleza será como a da oliveira, e o seu perfume como o do Líbano. 7 Os que habitam debaixo da sua sombra retornarão; serão vivificados como o grão, e crescerão como a videira; a sua fama será como o vinho do Líbano. 8 Efraim dirá: Que mais tenho eu com os ídolos? Eu o tenho ouvido e observado; eu sou como o abeto verde; de mim é achado o teu fruto. 9 Quem é sábio, para que entenda estas coisas? Quem é prudente, para que as saiba? Porque os caminhos do SENHOR são retos, e os justos andarão neles, mas os transgressores neles cairão. 

 

Deus é um Deus ciumento. Ele tem ciúmes do Seu povo, com quem Ele é casado. Deus não competirá pelo carinho e devoção que Lhe é devido pelo Seu povo. Precisamos declarar como Seu Filho corporativo …… “A Assíria não nos salvará”.

 

O versículo 3 diz: “não iremos montados em cavalos”. O povo de Deus deve declarar “Não confiaremos nos cavalos do Egito”. Vamos nos juntar a David e declarar:

Salmos 20:7 Uns confiam em carruagens e outros em cavalos, mas nós lembraremos do nome do SENHOR nosso Deus.

We are living in a time of uncertainty where people are in need of guidance and assurance on so many fronts. Today my exhortation will be more practical and relevant to some of our own challenges that we would face as a household of faith as well as those households that relate to us.

I would like to examine a few aspects of the leadership model of Joseph in Egypt that is evidenced in his governance. There are many models for leadership in the scriptures, but Christ is revealed so graphically in the life of Joseph.

We will pick up the story when Joseph would reveal himself to his brothers.

Genesis 45:2-5

2 And he wept aloud, and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard it.

3 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph; does my father still live?” But his brothers could not answer him, for they were dismayed in his presence. 4 And Joseph said to his brothers, “Please come near to me.” So they came near. Then he said: “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. 5 But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.

Hebrew Word for “dismayed or troubled”

bāhal: A verb meaning to be dismayed or terrified. It is sometimes used when a sudden threat conveys great fear

At the core and heart of a Joseph company is a desire to preserve life. Although Joseph was the beloved son of Jacob, yet Almighty God would have His own plans for Joseph. Joseph was destined to rule in Egypt under Pharaoh

It reminds us of the Father, sending His only begotten Son, as a His gift to the world, to preserve life. The option to receive this Gift from God rests with the inhabitants of this world.

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Joseph had come to a place where he was established as a ruler in Egypt. Jesus did not have to prove His Sonship; He was the Son of God before He came to the earth; before the earth and the heavens were formed and created, Jesus was always there.

Jesus existed before Abraham. This was a source of great contention with the Jews.

John 8

58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

Joseph did not need to do anything further to enhance his career. God had brought Joseph to his destiny.

Joseph was secure, abiding in the saving grace and favor of the Father; he has been well trained in Egypt; he knows how to deal with Egyptian challenges

All these years, in a strange land, amongst foreigners, in the midst of a strange culture, away from his family, not hearing the voice of his father, yet God, the Eternal Father by His grace and favor brought Joseph into a place of influence

There is a prevailing anointing on Joseph to preserve life

It is this anointing that overwhelms his need to avenge his brothers.

Joseph could not help himself. He is anointed to preserve life; not to position anyone harm’s way. It is the expression and manifestation of the nature of Christ towards those who would receive Him.

2 Peter 3:9

9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

The first question from Joseph concerns his father.

The Joseph anointing seeks to restore the whole family.

“Is my father still alive?”

The fellowship of the family cannot be restored by excluding the father.

Therefore, before the great cry of Joseph is heard throughout the palace, there are things that need to fall into place that would attract the blessings of the Lord concerning the table of reconciliation.

Joseph set up a table for truth and reconciliation for his family

His family needed to be orientated and informed about the ways of the Egyptians

Joseph’s family needs to know that every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.

It is imperative that remnant of God’s people, this first fruit company of promise, understand that

When we exclude the grace of Joseph at our table, we exclude this vital piece of information. They need to know that Egyptians and Hebrews could not eat together.

Daniel 2:43

43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay.

1 John 2:15-17

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

That both cultures need a Christ who is able to destroy the middle wall of partisanship, making both one. This ancient offer is still available today.

Ephesians 2:13

13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

As we celebrate fathers this morning, we recognize a deep desire in the heart of fathers is for a family that is united around God and His Word.

A legitimate Joseph leadership would set up this table that is inclusive but it is not enforced nor legislated; the invitation for the family to be reconciled in a foreign environment has been extended; if any of Joseph’s brothers resist the invitation, there would have to endure another 5 years of famine that still remains.

Matthew 22:2-7

2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, 3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. 4 Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.” ’ 5 But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. 6 And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. 7 But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

In this parable Jesus explains this principle, in the parable where the king extends the invitation to his guests. There is a real expectation that the first invitees (Jews) would respond to the invitation. By rejecting the invitation, Jesus explains that we incur the judgement and the wrath of the king. Cities will be destroyed, the murder of the Lord’s servants will be avenged. Let us not lose our seat at the banquet. Respond while there is still time.

The 12 sons of Jacob would eventually constitute the 12 tribes of Israel. The Body of Christ is the spiritual Israel of God. We understand all of this.

This model of reconciliation between Joseph and his brothers can be applied to all levels of construction :

1. Household of faith

2. Family of households

3. Body of Christ

This leadership model exudes the nature of Christ

The cry that was heard in the palace of Pharaoh represents the pent up emotion of years of separation from his father and his brothers. Until this cry is heard throughout the palace, the spirit of disunity and fragmentation will always exist. The cry is the sound of the trumpet announcing the gathering of

all the sons of Jacob.

Go and bring the father, go and bring Benjamin, invite all the sons to sit at the table. Joseph is not one man in this season, he represents a company of men who exude the features of the Joseph anointing; this anointing will not desire that any son should perish.

Although Jacob may remember the unfaithfulness of Reuben in defiling the bed with his concubine, the Joseph model does not prejudice Reuben in any way; he will have his place at the table. In fact some Jewish historians state that Reuben was one of the 5 sons chosen by Joseph to be presented before Pharaoh. Joseph sees no man after the flesh.

Joseph represents an “inclusive style of leadership and governance” that brings the sons to be seated at the table. This is at the heart and core of the Joseph anointing.

This attitude and mindset will bring us the promises that the grace of Joseph would release. Remember there are 5 years of famine left. Instead of perishing in this famine, households and families must come together; sibling rivalries and fragmentation must be dealt with decisively at the table with a spiritual father.Jacob and Benjamin must be invited to sit at the same table as Joseph and the others.

We cannot escape this moment. We cannot put a secular spin on this . The sound of the cry of Joseph must be heard throughout the palace until it gets to the ears of Pharaoh.

Genesis 45:6-15

6 For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. 7 And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. 8 So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

9 “Hurry and go up to my father, and say to him, ‘Thus says your son Joseph: “God has made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not tarry. 10 You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near to me, you and your children, your children’s children, your flocks and your herds, and all that you have. 11 There I will provide for you, lest you and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty; for there are still five years of famine.” ’

12 “And behold, your eyes and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see that it is my mouth that speaks to you. 13 So you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that you have seen; and you shall hurry and bring my father down here.”

14 Then he fell on his brother Benjamin’s neck and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck. 15 Moreover he kissed all his brothers and wept over them, and after that his brothers talked with him.

Verse 7 declares that it was God who sent Joseph into Egypt, not Jacob, not his brothers, not his friends…… but God. Jacob sent Joseph to check on his brothers in the field, but God had other plans for Joseph. The will of God will always prevail.

We don’t have to function on “survival mode” for the next five years as a family.

THE JOSEPH COMPANY DESIRES PROXIMITY

You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near to me, you and your children, your children’s children, your flocks and your herds, and all that you have.

There is protection conferred upon Joseph’s family within a legitimate Joseph administration.

MODELO DE LIDERANÇA DE JOSÉ

Vivemos um tempo de incerteza em que as pessoas precisam de orientação e garantia em tantas frentes. Hoje, minha exortação será mais prática e relevante para alguns de nossos próprios desafios que enfrentaríamos como família de fé, bem como para as famílias que se relacionam conosco.

 

Eu gostaria de examinar alguns aspectos do modelo de liderança de José no Egito que são evidenciados em seu governo. Existem muitos modelos de liderança nas escrituras, mas Cristo é revelado tão graficamente na vida de José.

 

Contaremos a história em que José se revelaria a seus irmãos.

 

Gênesis 45:2-5

No centro e no coração de uma companhia de José, há um desejo de preservar a vida. Embora José fosse o filho amado de Jacó, Deus Todo Poderoso teria Seus próprios planos para José. José estava destinado a governar o Egito sob o faraó.

 

Isso nos lembra o Pai, enviando Seu Filho unigênito, como um presente para o mundo, para preservar a vida. A opção de receber esse presente de Deus é dos habitantes deste mundo.

 

João 3

16 Porque Deus amou tanto ao mundo que ele deu o seu Filho unigênito, para que todo o que nele crê não pereça, mas tenha a vida eterna.

 

José havia chegado a um lugar onde foi estabelecido como governante no Egito. Jesus não teve que provar Sua filiação; Ele era o Filho de Deus antes de vir à terra; antes que a terra e os céus fossem formados e criados, Jesus estava sempre lá.

Jesus existia antes de Abraão. Esta foi uma fonte de grande disputa com os judeus.

 

João 8:58

Disse-lhes Jesus: Na verdade, na verdade eu vos digo: Antes que Abraão existisse, EU SOU.”

José não precisou fazer mais nada para melhorar sua carreira. Deus trouxe José ao seu destino.

José estava seguro, permanecendo na graça salvadora e no favor do Pai; ele foi bem treinado no Egito; ele sabe como lidar com os desafios egípcios

Todos esses anos, em uma terra estranha, entre estrangeiros, no meio de uma cultura estranha, longe de sua família, sem ouvir a voz de seu pai, mas Deus, o Pai Eterno, por Sua graça e favor, levou José a um lugar de influência.

Há uma unção predominante em José para preservar a vida.

É essa unção que supera sua necessidade de vingar seus irmãos.

José não pôde evitar. Ele é ungido para preservar a vida; para não posicionar o caminho de ninguém. É a expressão e manifestação da natureza de Cristo para com aqueles que O receberiam.

2 Pedro 3:9 O Senhor não é tardio a respeito de sua promessa, ainda que alguns homens a têm por tardia; mas é longânimo para conosco, não querendo que nenhum se perca, senão que todos cheguem ao arrependimento.

A primeira pergunta de José diz respeito ao pai.

A unção de José procura restaurar toda a família.

 “acaso ainda vive o meu pai?“

A comunhão da família não pode ser restaurada excluindo o pai.

Portanto, antes que o grande clamor de José seja ouvido em todo o palácio, há coisas que precisam se encaixar para atrair as bênçãos do Senhor a respeito da mesa da reconciliação.

José estabeleceu uma mesa para a verdade e reconciliação para sua família

Sua família precisava ser orientada e informada sobre os caminhos dos egípcios

A família de José precisa saber que todo pastor é uma abominação para os egípcios.

É imperativo que o restante do povo de Deus, essa companhia de primeiros frutos da promessa, entenda que:

Quando excluímos a graça de José em nossa mesa, excluímos essa informação vital. Eles precisam saber que egípcios e hebreus não podiam comer juntos.

Daniel 2:43 E enquanto tu viste ferro misturado com barro lamacento, eles irão se misturar à semente de homens; porém eles não se apegarão um ao outro, assim como o ferro não se mistura ao barro.

1 João 2:15 Não ameis o mundo, e nem as coisas que estão no mundo. Se algum homem ama o mundo, o amor do Pai não está nele. 16 Porque tudo o que está no mundo, a concupiscência da carne, a concupiscência dos olhos e o orgulho da vida, não é do Pai, mas do mundo. 17 E o mundo passa, e a sua concupiscência; mas aquele que faz a vontade de Deus permanece para sempre.

Que ambas as culturas precisam de um Cristo capaz de destruir o muro do meio do partidarismo, tornando ambos um. Esta oferta antiga ainda está disponível hoje.

 

Efésios 2:13 Mas agora em Cristo Jesus, vós, que antes estáveis longe, chegastes perto pelo sangue de Cristo.

Ao celebrarmos os pais nesta manhã, reconhecemos que um profundo desejo no coração dos pais é por uma família unida em torno de Deus e de Sua Palavra.

Uma liderança legítima de José estabeleceria essa mesa que é inclusiva, mas não é aplicada nem legislada; o convite para a família ser reconciliada em um ambiente estrangeiro foi estendido; se algum dos irmãos de José resistir ao convite, teria que suportar outros 5 anos de fome que ainda permanecem.

 

Mateus 22: 2 O reino do céu é semelhante a um certo rei, que fez as bodas de seu filho, 3 e enviou os seus servos a chamar os convidados para as bodas, e estes não quiseram vir. 4 Mais uma vez, ele enviou outros servos, dizendo: Dizei aos convidados: Eis que tenho o meu jantar preparado, os meus bois e meus cevados estão mortos, e todas as coisas estão prontas; vinde às bodas. 5 Mas eles, fazendo pouco caso, seguiram os seus caminhos, um para sua fazenda, outro para o seu negócio. 6 E os outros, tomaram os seus servos, os maltrataram e mataram. 7 Mas, ouvindo disso o rei, irou-se, e enviando os seus exércitos, destruiu aqueles assassinos, e incendiou a sua cidade.

Nesta parábola, Jesus explica esse princípio, na parábola em que o rei faz o convite a seus convidados. Há uma expectativa real de que os primeiros convidados (judeus) respondam ao convite. Ao rejeitar o convite, Jesus explica que incorremos no julgamento e na ira do rei. As cidades serão destruídas, o assassinato dos servos do Senhor será vingado. Não vamos perder nosso lugar no banquete. Responda enquanto ainda houver tempo.

Os 12 filhos de Jacó acabariam por constituir as 12 tribos de Israel. O Corpo de Cristo é o Israel espiritual de Deus. Nós entendemos tudo isso.

Este modelo de reconciliação entre José e seus irmãos pode ser aplicado a todos os níveis de construção:

1. Casa da fé

2. Domicílios familiares

3. Corpo de Cristo

Esse modelo de liderança exala a natureza de Cristo. O grito que foi ouvido no palácio do Faraó representa a emoção reprimida de anos de separação de seu pai e de seus irmãos. Até que este grito seja ouvido em todo o palácio, o espírito de desunião e fragmentação sempre existirá. O clamor é o som da trombeta anunciando a reunião de todos os filhos de Jacó.

Vá e traga o pai, vá e traga Benjamin, convide todos os filhos para se sentarem à mesa. José não é um homem nesta temporada, ele representa uma companhia de homens que exalam as características da unção de José; essa unção não desejará que nenhum filho pereça.

Embora Jacó se lembre da infidelidade de Rúben em sujar a cama com sua concubina, o modelo de José não prejudica Rúben de forma alguma; ele terá seu lugar à mesa. De fato, alguns historiadores judeus afirmam que Rúben foi um dos 5 filhos escolhidos por José para serem apresentados diante do faraó. José não vê homem segundo a carne.

 José representa um “estilo inclusivo de liderança e governança” que leva os filhos a se sentarem à mesa. Este é o cerne da essência da unção de José.

Essa atitude e mentalidade nos trarão as promessas que a graça de José lançaria. Lembre-se de que restam 5 anos de fome. Em vez de perecer nesta fome, as famílias e as famílias devem se unir; rivalidades e fragmentação entre irmãos devem ser tratadas decisivamente à mesa com um pai espiritual. Jacó e Benjamim devem ser convidados a sentar à mesma mesa que José e os outros.

Não podemos escapar deste momento. Não podemos dar uma guinada secular nisso. O som do clamor de José deve ser ouvido em todo o palácio até chegar aos ouvidos do faraó.

E depois disso, seus irmãos falaram com ele.

O versículo 7 declara que foi Deus quem enviou José ao Egito, não Jacó, nem seus irmãos, nem seus amigos … mas Deus. Jacó enviou José para verificar seus irmãos no campo, mas Deus tinha outros planos para José. A vontade de Deus sempre prevalecerá.

Não precisamos trabalhar no “modo de sobrevivência” pelos próximos cinco anos em família.

A COMPANHIA DE JOSÉ DESEJA PROXIMIDADE

Você habitará na terra de Gósen e estará perto de mim, você e seus filhos, filhos de seus filhos, seus rebanhos e suas manadas, e tudo o que você tem.

Há proteção conferida à família de José dentro de uma administração legítima de José.

I would like us to talk about the how God would speak through His prophets and His servants to warn His people concerning His judgements

The judgements of God do not come as a surprise to believers who are familiar with the ways of God and His Word.

We will examine the scriptures where God is speaking through His prophet Jeremiah concerning His intention to send His people into Babylonian captivity.

Jeremiah 25

1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), 2 which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying: 3 “From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, this is the twenty-third year in which the word of the LORD has come to me; and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, but you have not listened.

4 And the LORD has sent to you all His servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear. 5 They said, Repent now everyone of his evil way and his evil doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD has given to you and your fathers forever and ever. 6 Do not go after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not harm you.’ 7 Yet you have not listened to Me,” says the LORD, “that you might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

8 “Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Because you have not heard My words, 9 behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,’ says the LORD, ‘and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land, against its inhabitants, and against these nations all around, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations. 10 Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp. 11 And this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

God is lamenting the fact that His people have not responded to His Word after Jeremiah prophesied to them for all these years. Although God had sent many of His servants to warn the people about going after other Gods they did not listen. They remained obstinate and hard hearted, not receiving the words of the One Sent by the Lord.

The captivity in Babylon, was not a random, impulsive act of God.

He demonstrated the spirit of long suffering as He lamented the gross violations of His people, in the hope that they would come to their senses.

They knew that God is slow to anger, but His people succeeded in testing His flash point.

If we thought that this spiritual condition of God’s people was restricted to the era of the Old Testament, we would be mistaken. We see Jesus experiencing the same rejection and hostility from His own people.

Matthew 23:31-37

31 “Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers’ guilt. 33 Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? 34 Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, 35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36 Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.

37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

Jesus prophesies the destruction of the Temple

Matthew 24:1-2

1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

Jesus refers to a period of time known as the “Beginning of Sorrows”

Matthew 24:12-13

12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

The challenge for believers is to endure until the end. Our victory is connected to our ability to endure in the midst of apostasy.

THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO KNOW

Jeremiah did not just prophesy the captivity, he also prophesied deliverance and restoration

Jesus did not only talk about His death, He also spoke about His resurrection on the third day

Jesus just did not talk about the a single grain of seed fall to the ground and dying, He also spoke about the emergence of a Harvest

Jesus just did not talk about the destruction of the Temple

Jesus also said “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

PAUL WRITES HIS FIRST LETTER TO THE BELIEVERS IN CORINTH

HE ADDRESSES THEM AS SAINTS

His address on “Love” in 1 Corinthians 13 is often quoted.

1 Corinthians 13:1

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

Paul has fought a good fight, kept the faith, finished the race

But he needed to share important truths with his son Timothy

Just before his death, the same Apostle Paul shared this truth from his vast experience in apostolic ministry. The same Apostle who wrote those immortal verses on the greatest gift of love now warns his son to turn away from all people who display these characteristic features.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Paul’s experience brought wisdom to Timothy, who represents the next generation.

Many believers may think that these apostles and prophets are bipolar.

Sons of God are led by the Spirit of God.

Isaiah the prophet presents another example. If Isaiah the prophet had the courage to declare before King Hezekiah :

“Thus says the LORD: Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’ ”

(Isaiah 38:1)

When the Lord changes His directive after hearing the prayer of Hezekiah,

Isaiah must be faithful and humble and demonstrate great grace to inform King Hezekiah that God had changed His position, and that God has added 15 years to his life.

Isaiah 38:5-6

5 “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years. 6 I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.” ’

In the heart of God, there is an overarching spirit for the restoration of His people; those who know how to respond towards His judgements.

We see very clearly that is the same mouth that God used to judge His people, now He uses to restore those who have decided to return to Him.

Jeremiah 29:10

10 For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place.

Sadly from millions of Jews who went into exile, only 42000 returned to Jerusalém. The rest found a place to lay their head to rest in Babylon.

JEREMIAH ALSO PROPHESIED THE COMING OF THE MESSIAH

Jeremiah 33:14-16

14 Behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD, ‘that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah:

15 ‘In those days and at that time I will cause to grow up to David

A Branch of righteousness; He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. 16 In those days Judah will be saved, And Jerusalem will dwell safely.

And this is the name by which she will be called:

THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.’

Jeremiah is prophesying about the dispensation of Christ . A time when we have been set free from all religious rituals and strivings, that caused us to “appear” righteous. Christ is our righteousness and our peace; this has always been our spiritual reality, where Christ, the righteousness of God has been imputed to us. We also recognize our personal responsibility in walking in practical righteousness.

The exile in Babylon, the lockdown has revealed the idolatry of the people of God.They prioritised the Temple of Solomon rather than the God of the Temple.

This will also become clearly evident during our lockdown.

The purpose of the exile, is for the people of God to come to their senses, to experience brokenness, to reset our value system. If we understand and accept that God is a spirit who lives in us, His holy temple, we can survive anywhere on the earth, in lockdown or out of lockdown.

Psalms 137:1-6

1 By the rivers of Babylon, There we sat down, yea, we wept When we remembered Zion.

2 We hung our harps Upon the willows in the midst of it.

3 For there those who carried us away captive asked of us a song, And those who plundered us requested mirth, Saying, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

4 How shall we sing the LORD’s song

In a foreign land?

5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem,

Let my right hand forget its skill!

6 If I do not remember you,

Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth—

If I do not exalt Jerusalem

Above my chief joy.

The people of God were totally incapacitated in a foreign environment

They hung their harps on the willows

Babylon wants the sons of God to sing and play music for their entertainment

In this time, it is impossible for the sons of God to be incapacitated in any form of lockdown or exile.

We have His Word embedded inside us

We have His song inside us

We can lift up our hands as the evening sacrifice

Isaiah prophesied this calamity ….

Isaiah 24:5-8

5 The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants,

Because they have transgressed the laws,

Changed the ordinance,

Broken the everlasting covenant.

6 Therefore the curse has devoured the earth,

And those who dwell in it are desolate.

Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left.

7 The new wine fails, the vine languishes,

All the merry-hearted sigh.

8 The mirth of the tambourine ceases,

The noise of the jubilant ends,

The joy of the harp ceases.

Isaiah was talking about a new wine failing in his time; because the people of God transgressed the laws of the Lord. We see the new wine that Jesus produced; it was the product of total obedience to the instructions (Word) of the Lord.

The failure of the new wine in the years of captivity is the result of disobedience to the laws of God

THE BEST WINE FOR THE END – FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ENDURED CONSUMING EVERYTHING ELSE

Jesus supernaturally formulated the best wine at the wedding at Cana. Yet, the same enduring principle prevails. The servants at the wedding were explicitly directed to do everything that Jesus required (total obedience to His Word).

A lack of obedience will cause the wine to fail.

Gostaria que falássemos sobre como Deus falaria através de Seus profetas e servos para advertir Seu povo a respeito de Seus julgamentos.

 

Os julgamentos de Deus não são uma surpresa para os crentes que estão familiarizados com os caminhos de Deus e Sua Palavra.

 

Examinaremos as escrituras em que Deus está falando por meio de Seu profeta Jeremias, a respeito de Sua intenção de enviar Seu povo ao cativeiro na Babilônia.

 

Jeremias 25-1:11

 

1 A palavra que veio a Jeremias a respeito de todo o povo de Judá, no quarto ano de Jeoiaquim, o filho de Josias, rei de Judá, que foi o primeiro ano de Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia. 2 A qual Jeremias, o profeta, falou para todo o povo de Judá, e para todos os habitantes de Jerusalém, dizendo: 3 Desde o décimo terceiro ano de Josias, o filho de Amom, rei de Judá, até este dia, período de vinte e três anos, a palavra do SENHOR tem vindo até mim, e eu tenho falado para vós, madrugando e falando. Deus está lamentando o fato de Seu povo não ter respondido à Sua Palavra depois que Jeremias profetizou a eles por todos esses anos. Embora Deus tenha enviado muitos de seus servos para avisar o povo sobre perseguir outros deuses, eles não ouviram. Eles permaneceram obstinados e de coração duro, não recebendo as palavras daquele enviado pelo Senhor.

 

O cativeiro na Babilônia não foi um ato aleatório e impulsivo de Deus.

 

Ele demonstrou o espírito de longanimidade ao lamentar as violações graves de Seu povo, na esperança de que eles voltassem a si.

 

Eles sabiam que Deus demorou a se enfurecer, mas Seu povo conseguiu testar Seu ponto de ignição.

 

Se pensássemos que essa condição espiritual do povo de Deus estava restrita à era do Antigo Testamento, estaríamos enganados. Vemos Jesus experimentando a mesma rejeição e hostilidade de Seu próprio povo.

 

 

 

 

Mateus 23:31-37

 

31 Assim, testificais contra vós mesmos, pois sois filhos dos que mataram os profetas. 32 Enchei vós, então, a medida de vossos pais. 33 Serpentes, geração de víboras, como podeis escapar da condenação do inferno? 34 Portanto, eis que eu vos envio profetas, homens sábios e escribas; a alguns deles matareis e crucificareis; e a outros açoitareis nas vossas sinagogas e os perseguireis de cidade em cidade. 35 Para que sobre vós possa vir todo o sangue justo, que foi derramado sobre a terra, desde o sangue do justo Abel até o sangue de Zacarias, filho de Baraquias, que matastes entre o templo e o altar. 36 Na verdade eu vos digo que todas estas coisas sobrevirão sobre esta geração. 37 Ó Jerusalém, Jerusalém, que matas os profetas, e apedrejas os que te são enviados, quantas vezes eu quis ajuntar os teus filhos, como a galinha ajunta os seus pintinhos debaixo das asas, e tu não quiseste!

 

Jesus profetiza a destruição do templo

 

Mateus 24:1-2

 

1 E Jesus, saindo, partiu do templo, e aproximaram-se dele os seus discípulos para lhe mostrarem os edifícios do templo. 2 Mas Jesus lhes disse: Não vedes todas estas coisas? Na verdade eu vos digo que não ficará aqui uma pedra sobre a outra que não seja derrubada.

 

Jesus se refere a um período de tempo conhecido como o “começo das tristezas”

 

Mateus 24:12-13

 

12 E, por se multiplicar a iniquidade, o amor de muitos esfriará. 13 Mas aquele que suportar até o fim, esse será salvo.

 

O desafio para os crentes é perseverar até o fim. Nossa vitória está ligada à nossa capacidade de perseverar no meio da apostasia.

 

ISSO É IMPORTANTE PARA NÓS SABERMOS

 

Jeremias não apenas profetizou o cativeiro, ele também profetizou libertação e restauração

 

Jesus não falou apenas sobre sua morte, mas também sobre sua ressurreição no terceiro dia

 

Jesus simplesmente não falou sobre um único grão de semente cair no chão e morrer, mas também falou sobre o surgimento de uma colheita

 

Jesus não somente falou sobre a destruição do templo.

 

PAULO ESCREVE SUA PRIMEIRA CARTA AOS CRENTES EM CORINTO

 

ELE SE DIRIGE A ELES COMO SANTOS

 

Seu discurso sobre “Amor” em 1 Coríntios 13 é frequentemente citado.

 

1 Coríntios 13:1

 

1 Ainda que eu falasse as línguas dos homens e dos anjos, e não tivesse caridade, eu me tornaria como o bronze ressoante ou um címbalo tilintante.

 

Paulo travou uma boa luta, manteve a fé, terminou a corrida

 

Mas ele precisava compartilhar verdades importantes com seu filho Timóteo.

 

Pouco antes de sua morte, o mesmo apóstolo Paulo compartilhou essa verdade de sua vasta experiência no ministério apostólico. O mesmo apóstolo que escreveu esses versos imortais sobre o maior presente do amor agora adverte seu filho a se afastar de todas as pessoas que exibem esses traços característicos.

 

2 Timóteo 3:1-5

 

1 Sabe, porém, isto: Que nos últimos dias perigosos tempos sobrevirão; 2 porque haverá homens amantes de si mesmos, avarentos, presunçosos, orgulhosos, blasfemos, desobedientes a pais e mães, ingratos, profanos, 3 sem afeto natural, irreconciliáveis, falsos acusadores, incontinentes, cruéis, inimigos daqueles que são bons, 4 traidores, obstinados, soberbos, mais amantes dos prazeres do que amantes de Deus, 5 tendo aparência de piedade, mas negando o poder dela. Destes, afasta-te.

 

A experiência de Paulo trouxe sabedoria a Timóteo, que representa a próxima geração.

 

Muitos crentes podem pensar que esses apóstolos e profetas são bipolares.

 

Os filhos de Deus são guiados pelo Espírito de Deus.

 

O profeta Isaías apresenta outro exemplo. Se o profeta Isaías teve a coragem de declarar perante o rei Ezequias:

 

“Assim diz o SENHOR: Põe a tua casa em ordem, porque morrerás e não viverás.” (Isaías 38: 1)

 

Quando o Senhor muda de direção depois de ouvir a oração de Ezequias,

 

Isaías deve ser fiel e humilde e demonstrar grande graça para informar o rei Ezequias que Deus havia mudado de posição e que Deus acrescentou 15 anos à sua vida.

 

Isaías 38:5-6

 

5 Vai, e dize a Ezequias: Portanto, diz o SENHOR, o Deus de Davi teu pai, eu tenho ouvido a tua oração, e tenho visto tuas lágrimas. Eis que Eu acrescentarei aos teus dias quinze anos. 6 E eu te livrarei e a esta cidade da mão do rei da Assíria, e eu defenderei esta cidade.

 

No coração de Deus, existe um espírito abrangente para a restauração do Seu povo; aqueles que sabem responder aos Seus julgamentos.

 

Vemos claramente que é a mesma boca que Deus usou para julgar Seu povo, agora Ele usa para restaurar aqueles que decidiram voltar para Ele.

 

Jeremias 29:10

 

10 orque assim diz o SENHOR: Após se completarem setenta anos em Babilônia, eu vos visitarei e cumprirei a minha boa palavra em vós, fazendo-vos retornar para este lugar.

 

Infelizmente, de milhões de judeus que se exilaram, apenas 42.000 retornaram a Jerusalém. O resto encontrou um lugar para descansar a cabeça na Babilônia.

 

JEREMIAS TAMBÉM PROFETIZOU A VINDA DO MESSIAS

 

Jeremias 33:14-16

 

Eis que vêm dias, diz o SENHOR, em que eu realizarei aquela boa palavra que prometi à casa de Israel, e à casa de Judá. 15 Naqueles dias, e naquele tempo, eu farei crescer um Renovo de justiça a Davi, e ele fará juízo e justiça na terra. 16 Naqueles dias Judá será salvo, e Jerusalém habitará a salvo, e este é o nome pelo qual ela será chamada: O SENHOR NOSSA JUSTIÇA.

 

Jeremias está profetizando sobre a dispensação de Cristo. Uma época em que fomos libertados de todos os rituais e esforços religiosos, que nos fizeram “parecer” justos. Cristo é nossa justiça e nossa paz; essa sempre foi nossa realidade espiritual, onde Cristo, a justiça de Deus nos foi imputada. Também reconhecemos nossa responsabilidade pessoal em andar na justiça prática.

 

O exílio na Babilônia, o confinamento, revelou a idolatria do povo de Deus. Eles priorizaram o Templo de Salomão, e não o Deus do Templo.

 

Isso também ficará claramente evidente durante a nossa quarentena.

 

O objetivo do exílio é que o povo de Deus recupere o juízo, experimente o quebrantamento, restaure nosso sistema de valores. Se entendermos e aceitarmos que Deus é um espírito que vive em nós, Seu santo templo, podemos sobreviver em qualquer lugar da Terra, em confinamento ou fora dele.

 

Salmos 137:1-6

 

1 Junto aos rios de Babilônia, ali nos assentamos, sim, nós choramos, quando nos lembramos de Sião. 2 Pendurávamos nossas harpas sobre os salgueiros no seu meio. 3 Pois lá aqueles que nos levaram cativos nos requeriam uma canção; e aqueles que nos consumiam nos requeriam alegria dizendo: Cantai-nos uma das canções de Sião. 4 Como cantaremos a canção do SENHOR em uma terra estranha? 5 Se eu te esquecer, ó Jerusalém, deixa minha mão direita esquecer sua destreza. 6 Se eu não me lembrar de ti, apegue-se a minha língua no céu da minha boca; se eu não preferir Jerusalém à minha maior alegria.

 

O povo de Deus estava totalmente incapacitado em um ambiente estranho

 

Eles penduraram suas harpas nos salgueiros

 

Babilônia quer que os filhos de Deus cantem e toquem música para seu entretenimento

 

Nesse tempo, é impossível que os filhos de Deus sejam incapacitados em qualquer forma de confinamento ou exílio.

 

Temos Sua Palavra embutida dentro de nós

 

Temos a música Dele dentro de nós

 

Podemos levantar nossas mãos como o sacrifício da noite

 

Isaías profetizou essa calamidade….

Isaías 24:5-8

 

5 A terra também está corrompida sob os habitantes dela, porque eles têm transgredido as leis, mudado os estatutos, quebrado o pacto eterno. 6 Portanto, a maldição tem devorado a terra e aqueles que nela habitam estão desolados. Portanto, os habitantes da terra estão queimados e poucos homens restam. 7 O vinho novo pranteia, a videira definha, todo o de coração alegre suspira. 8 O regozijo dos tamborins cessa, o barulho daqueles que jubilam termina, a alegria da harpa cessa.

 

Isaías estava falando sobre um novo vinho falhando em seu tempo; porque o povo de Deus transgrediu as leis do Senhor. Vemos o novo vinho que Jesus produziu; foi o produto da total obediência às instruções (Palavra) do Senhor.

 

O fracasso do novo vinho nos anos de cativeiro é o resultado da desobediência às leis de Deus

 

O MELHOR VINHO NO FINAL – PARA AQUELES QUE RESISTIRAM AO CONSUMO DE TODO O RESTO

 

Jesus formulou sobrenaturalmente o melhor vinho no casamento de Caná. No entanto, o mesmo princípio duradouro prevalece. Os servos do casamento foram explicitamente orientados a fazer tudo o que Jesus exigia (total obediência à Sua Palavra).

 

A falta de obediência fará com que o vinho falhe.

One of the benefits of this lockdown is to separate ourselves to spend time studying the Word and inclining our ear to listen to the voice of the Spirit

Much of what I have shared is from my conversations with the Holy Spirit, and I share it with you in the hope that it would also be a blessing and encouragement to you.

There is a sphere of dominion that extends beyond the accumulation of material and tangible possessions. I would like to present three models today that are based on strong covenants with

The Lord, His Word, the spiritual authority assigned over our lives and His people.

All three models attract Divine blessings and favor

Jesus often separated Himself from His disciples to spend time alone communing with the Father

This lockdown allows us the time to commune and converse with God. During crises, do we align our decisions to comply with the Word of God? Do we abandon our mandate and faithfulness when we are having our personal Gethsemane experience?

We are all tested in these areas regularly just as Jesus was.

Matthew 26:36-39

36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”

39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

Observe the process of separation from the voices around Him until He arrived at the place where He is alone with His Father. We cannot avoid the moment when we will find ourselves alone in His Presence.

This is a moment of decision. Right here, the Son of God faces His ultimate test as Son of Man.

Jesus had to separate from His disciples, then from Peter and the sons of Zebedee and then be alone with the Father

Jesus had to place His absolute trust in the Word and the promise of the Father. The Cross did not surprise Jesus. This was the purpose of His coming. He knew when the hour and the moment had come. He knew the timeline of all the events from the time He came into this world until His death His resurrection and His ascension to the Right hand of the Father

Matthew 16

21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

There are critical moments in our lives where our integrity in believing the Word of God will be tested

We see this clearly with Daniel within a Babylonian environment

Daniel and his friends represent a sample of the remnant of sons of God who are faithful until the end. We see clearly that they possess incredible mental and spiritual strength in their hour of decision.

These are our “Gethsemane” moments that define and identify who we are, in the eyes of God. These decisions may make no sense to the natural man; they may even be considered to be foolish by our contemporaries; but righteous decisions attract great favor and establish goodwill with the Lord.

Gethsemane offers the ultimate proof of our identity as sons of God

I would like to draw your attention to a word that the scriptures use concerning Daniel. This word establishes his resistance campaign against the culture of Babylon.

That word is “resolved”

Right up front Daniel resolved in his heart not to defile himself, not to profane or make the name of his God common.

Daniel 1:8

But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.

This means he put to rest all conflicting emotions and turbulence in his heart concerning the temptations and offerings of Babylon. This simply means that there was no grey area for Daniel to navigate concerning Babylon. He would maintain his integrity to obey the Word of God, in the face of the fiercest intimidation. This does not mean that he tried to escape Babylon; it means that we would represent the integrity and the culture of a son of God in the midst of Babylon.

Hebrew word for resolve indicates;

Determination, assertiveness, finality, absoluteness, firmness

The doctrine and counsel from the Word of God that has become our diet influences our responses when we are faced with major decisions. Conflict and tensions arise when we lack a conviction of our identity.

The three Hebrew boys answered calmly before being thrown into the furnace

Daniel 3:16-18

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

ESTHER

This is typical of the rags to riches story of any believer

What about Esther, a Hebrew queen masquerading as a Persian in the palace of the King? Her “Gethsemane moment” would also come. Her own people are languishing under the weight of a royal decree that declares :

to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their possessions.

Mordecai, the man who nurtured Esther, is sitting outside the gates in sackcloth. He desperately needs Esther to intercede for the Jews before the King.

These are Gethsemane moments, where we cannot remain silent. These moments shape our identity.

God is not restricted to depending on those who wear the crown; this is Esther’s moment to arise and shine as an instrument who would be used by God.

Like Mordecai asked ……..

“who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

If we refuse to represent God, He will raise someone else. This is the reason God allowed Mordecai to smuggle Esther into the palace.

Esther not only reveals her identity as a son of God, she also demonstrated her solidarity with the people of God. She also remains obedient to the instructions of Mordecai, who is a picture of a “spiritual father”

Although she is now married to the King, living in the palace, her heart does not forget the man who raised her, who now sits in sackcloth outside the gates of the palace

This is the turning point where you transition from being Queen in the palace, to being queen over the people. This is where we earn our stripes.

Remember Mordecai knew Esther when her name was still Hadassah. When we wear a crown on our head, it is easy to forget our Mordecai sitting outside the gate in sackcloth.

I wrote last week that in critical moments we must identify ourselves.

Esther identified herself with Mordecai and her people.

God’s people counted on Esther doing the right thing

She walked through her Gethsemane, with the same courage and fortitude like Daniel declaring, “If I perish, I perish”

Truth is worth dying for. When you spiritually die for the truth, expect to be resurrected by the Lord.

In our darkest moments, always choose to believe and trust the integrity and promise of God in His Word.

Deuteronomy 20:3-4

3 And he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; 4 for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’

EVERY ONE OF THESE MODELS, IF IMPLEMENTED ATTRACTS DIVINE FAVOR

Jesus was highly exalted by His Father and He received a name above every name.

Philippians 2:8-9

8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

Esther was highly favored by her husband the King. She received the full authority to write on behalf of the king using his seal.

Esther 9:29 Then Queen Esther, the daughter of Abihail, with Mordecai the Jew, wrote with full authority to confirm this second letter about Purim.

Unlike Jezebel who fraudulently used the King’s name and seal to plot the assassination of Naboth

1 Kings 21:8

8 And she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and the nobles who were dwelling in the city with Naboth.

Mordecai was also blessed with great authority conferred upon him.

Esther 10:3

3 For Mordecai the Jew was second to King Ahasuerus, and was great among the Jews and well received by the multitude of his brethren, seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all his countrymen.

The faithfulness of Daniel also attracted Divine favor and blessings

Daniel 6:28

28 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Jesus muitas vezes se separava de seus discípulos para passar um tempo sozinho em comunhão com o Pai

 

Essa quarentena nos dá tempo para comungar e conversar com Deus. Durante as crises, alinhamos nossas decisões para cumprir a Palavra de Deus? Abandonamos nosso mandato e fidelidade quando estamos tendo nossa experiência pessoal no Getsêmani?

 

Todos nós somos testados nessas áreas regularmente, exatamente como Jesus foi.

 

Mateus 26

36 Então chegou Jesus com eles a um lugar chamado Getsêmani, e disse a seus discípulos: Sentai-vos aqui, enquanto eu vou ali orar.

37 E, levando consigo Pedro e os dois filhos de Zebedeu, começou a entristecer-se e a angustiar-se muito.

Ele sabia a linha do tempo de todos os eventos desde o momento em que veio a este mundo até Sua morte, Sua ressurreição e Sua ascensão à mão direita do Pai.

 

Mateus 16

21 Desde esse tempo começou Jesus a mostrar aos seus discípulos que ele deveria ir a Jerusalém, e sofrer muitas coisas dos anciãos, e dos principais sacerdotes e escribas, e ser morto, e ressuscitar ao terceiro dia.

 

Há momentos críticos em nossas vidas onde nossa integridade em crer na Palavra de Deus será testada.

 

Vemos isso claramente com Daniel dentro de um ambiente babilônico.

 

Daniel e seus amigos representam uma amostra do remanescente de filhos de Deus que são fiéis até o fim. Vemos claramente que eles possuem uma incrível força mental e espiritual em sua hora de decisão.

 

Estes são nossos momentos no Getsêmani que definem e identificam quem somos, aos olhos de Deus. Essas decisões podem não fazer sentido para o homem natural; eles podem até ser considerados tolos por nossos contemporâneos; mas decisões justas atraem grande favor e estabelecem boa vontade com o Senhor.

 

O Getsêmani oferece a prova definitiva de nossa identidade como filhos de Deus

 

DANIEL

 

Gostaria de chamar sua atenção para uma palavra que as escrituras usam a respeito de Daniel. Esta palavra estabelece sua campanha de resistência contra a cultura da Babilônia.

 

Essa palavra é “resolveu”

 

Logo na frente, Daniel resolveu em seu coração não se contaminar, não profanar ou tornar comum o nome de seu Deus.

 

Daniel 1

8 Porém Daniel resolveu em seu coração que não se contaminaria com a porção do alimento do rei, nem com o vinho que ele bebia; então, pediu ao príncipe dos eunucos que ele não se contaminasse.

 

Isso significa que ele repousou todas as emoções e turbulências conflitantes em seu coração com relação às tentações e ofertas da Babilônia. Isso significa simplesmente que não havia uma área cinzenta para Daniel navegar em relação à Babilônia. Ele manteria sua integridade para obedecer à Palavra de Deus, diante da mais feroz intimidação. Isso não significa que ele tentou escapar da Babilônia; significa que representamos a integridade e a cultura de um filho de Deus no meio da Babilônia.

Determinação, assertividade, finalidade, absoluto, firmeza

 

A doutrina e o conselho da Palavra de Deus que se tornou nossa dieta influencia nossas respostas quando enfrentamos grandes decisões. Conflitos e tensões surgem quando não temos convicção de nossa identidade.

Seu “momento Getsêmani” também chegaria. Seu próprio povo está definhando sob o peso de um decreto real que declara:

Deus não se restringe a depender daqueles que usam a coroa; este é o momento de Ester para surgir e brilhar como um instrumento que seria usado por Deus.

 

Como Mordecai pediu …

 

“Quem sabe se você veio ao reino por um tempo como esse?”

 

Se nos recusarmos a representar Deus, Ele criará outra pessoa. Foi por essa razão que Deus permitiu que Mardoqueu trouxesse Ester para o palácio.

 

Ester não apenas revela sua identidade como filho de Deus, mas também demonstra sua solidariedade com o povo de Deus. Ela também permanece obediente às instruções de Mardoqueu, que é uma imagem de um “pai espiritual”

 

Embora agora esteja casada com o rei, morando no palácio, seu coração não esquece o homem que a criou, que agora está de saco fora dos portões do palácio.

CADA UM DESTES MODELOS, SE IMPLEMENTADO ATRAI O FAVOR DIVINO

A fidelidade de Daniel também atraiu favor e bênçãos divinos.

28 Então este Daniel prosperou no reinado de Dario, e no reinado de Ciro, o persa.
