RESTORING THE DIGNITY OF GOD’S PEOPLE/TEMPLE/CHURCH IN THE CITY
1. SURVEILLANCE
Nehemiah 2:15-16 

15 So I went up in the night by the valley, and viewed the wall; then I turned back and entered by the Valley Gate, and so returned. 16 And the officials did not know where I had gone or what I had done; I had not yet told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials, or the others who did the work.

Nehemiah carried out a private surveillance of the damage to the wall. No one knew about his inspection of the wall. He clearly carried a burden for the integrity and honor for God and His chosen people. He probably did not want anyone to witness his personal anguish and distress.
2. CONSULTATION AND THE MOTIVATION FOR BUILDING
Nehemiah 2:17 

17 Then I said to them, “You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.”
He made the believers understand that his distress was also the distress of the people. The Hebrew word for “distress” is the word “raah” which means evil and wicked. This word has a negative impact.

Nehemiah invites the people to build with him.

If we desire the full cooperation of the people, we must share our passion and our vision with them. 

Nehemiah did not want the people of God to be a reproach.
David had the same passion for the house of God.

Psalms 69:9 Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.

The Hebrew word for “reproach” is :

ḥerpāh: scorn, taunt
Nehemiah’s integrity for God and His people is clearly evident.
3. DUAL DIMENSIONS OF AUTHORITY – GOD AND THE WORDS OF THE KING

Nehemiah 2:18 

18 And I told them of the hand of my God which had been good upon me, and also of the king’s words that he had spoken to me.

So they said, “Let us rise up and build.” Then they set their hands to this good work.
It is always beneficial to obtain the approval and blessings of God and also the king.

The words of the king and his letters created a safe path for Nehemiah to Jerusalem.

The king released his resources to Nehemiah for the process of building.

This assurance from the authority over Nehemiah imparted great confidence to the people. They agreed to arise and build with Nehemiah. The construction began.

2. CONSULTA E MOTIVAÇÃO PARA CONSTRUÇÃO
Neemias 2:17

Neemias convida o povo a construir com ele.

Se desejamos a plena cooperação do povo, devemos compartilhar nossa paixão e nossa visão com eles.

Neemias não queria que o povo de Deus fosse um opróbrio.
Davi tinha a mesma paixão pela casa de Deus.
Salmos 69: 9 Porque o zelo pela tua casa me devorou, E caíram sobre mim as opróbrio dos que te censuram.

A palavra hebraica para “reprovar” é:

Ḥerpāh: desprezo, provocação
A integridade de Neemias para Deus e Seu povo é claramente evidente.
3. DUAS DIMENSÕES DA AUTORIDADE – DEUS E AS PALAVRAS DO REI

Neemias 2:18

18 E lhes falei da mão do meu Deus que tinha sido boa sobre mim, e também das palavras do rei que ele tinha falado comigo.
Então eles disseram: “Levantemo-nos e construamos.” Então puseram suas mãos para esta boa obra.
É sempre benéfico para obter a aprovação e bênçãos de Deus e também o rei.

As palavras do rei e suas cartas criaram um caminho seguro para Neemias a Jerusalém.

O rei liberou seus recursos para Neemias para o processo de construção.

Esta garantia da autoridade sobre Neemias deu grande confiança ao povo. Eles concordaram em se levantar e construir com Neemias. A construção começou.
