As a grandparent I often observe my grand daughter
being disciplined by her parents. Although it hurts
I have to respect their responsibilities as parents.
One of our greatest challenges is to be still, whilst
God disciplines the prodigal. It is human nature to
assist those who find themselves in a crisis. Are
we interfering in God’s method of bringing the
prodigal to his senses?
What’s your view?
I agree if we abort the process we wont have the ability to prepare for the famine. Like Joseph he had to go through his process so that at the right time he was able to make wise decisions to save a Nation.
I believe if we rescue those from the chastisement of the Lord we set them up for greater fall.
Let God be God and let us be His servants reaching out in love to those going through the processes of life.
God Bless you Pst Brenden
Great point of view Ps Brenden.
i am all for discipline and like the previous commentator i agree to a certain degree that people need that process but this is where i want to deviate a little, but before i do that i want to ask: how sure are we that the person going through a difficult patch is a prodigal?
how sure are we that it is God who is disciplining him?
on the basis of those questions i want to say that we need to be sure of who is doing the disciplining.
but even if God is disciplining we can assist to a degree. i say this because the bible says that we must be as little children and from watching my two girls i get this idea that sometimes God wants us to step in for our brother… he may be a prodigal but he is still our brother. there are times when i will be disciplining either one of them {they are 5 & 3 years old} and the other will step in and say daddy leave her.. and i hear them comforting one another in the room even though 10seconds before they were fighting… so i think that God wants to see the same kind of thing in our responses to the prodigal or any one for that matter. because the reality is that we all could be a prodigal in some way or another and wouldn’t we want some to help us out????????????
Stay blessed
Thanks for your comment Malcom … it really blessed my heart !
