Heb 6:10-12
10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
As Elijah sat under the juniper tree, he must have questioned the validity and relevance of his ministry; he was depressed and disconsolate, refusing to eat as he experienced the great burden of being the voice of God…. a “troubler” of the conscience of Israel, the present day Church.
God had to intervene; He knew exactly where His servant was. God had to remind Elijah that there were 7000 others who also had the same level of passion and consecration; God even identified them and told Elijah where they would be.
This should be a lesson for all ministers. Ministry will be a lot easier if we can connect with the 7000! You do not have to carry the burden of the whole earth on your head. There are others who have the grace to help you. Just connect.
This is a season that requires extraordinary faith and patience. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit. The Church comprises a mixed multitude; it is foolish to assume that all who attend come to worship God; people attend Church for all sorts of reasons….one of which is for the entertainment experience.
This mixed multitude have the ability to drain men of God of their passion, zeal and their enthusiasm for ministry. They represent a thorn in our side. Yet the Lord demands us to be diligent as we would continue to the end….teaching and preaching with great patience like that of Simeon who waited until his old age to see the manifestation of the Saviour.
Jesus Himself experienced frustration in ministry….at one point he was moved to ask His Father to remove the cup; however, he quickly adjusted himself. The apostle Paul was frustrated and tested many times in his ministry. Yet he endured until the end.
Let us also persevere and run this race with great faith and patience.
God bless you.
